X-COM: UFO Defense (originally known in Europe as UFO: Enemy Unknown) is a highly acclaimed turn-based tactical/strategy game released for the PC in 1994.
UFO Defense is about a multinational paramilitary organization known as X-COM (Extraterrestrial Combat), that launches operations in 1999 (which was the near future at the time the game was created) in an effort to protect Earth by researching technology and fighting against an impending alien invasion. Its intricately detailed game systems and creepy, unrelenting atmosphere made for an experience unlike almost anything on the market.
