NetherRealm Studios' DC Comics-based fighting game, brought to us by a guy you may have heard of who had a hand in creating the
Mortal Kombat series, Ed Boon!
The game features a number of characters, but only a handful were shown at E3. Each character has specific moves or techniques, either focusing on powers (as with the Flash, for example) or gadgets (such as with Harley Quinn), though there are multiple fighting styles for some. The levels are character-centric, and fans of DC Comics will recognize them immediately. Each has its own tweaks; the Batcave, for instance, features the Batmobile and rockets that can be launched at an opponent. The environments are destructible, and one can be knocked through a wall or to a new level, perhaps a callback to
Mortal Kombat 3.
Unlike the Mortal Kombat series which features super-gory Fatalities, comic book superheroes are larger than life and won't be disposed of so easily. The violence of those other games has been traded in for "crazy, over-the-top action;" Superman uppercutting someone into outer space (and and punching them back to Earth) comes to mind.
Injustice is scheduled to be a Wii U Launch Title.
