Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 is a role-playing game for the Nintendo DS. It is a sequel to the 2009 Nintendo DS role-playing game Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor. It was released in North America on February 28, 2012.
Unlike the first game in the series, where the plot concentrates in Tokyo, Japan, the setting of Devil Survivor 2 spans the whole country. It tells the story of Japanese high school students who received an email from a website foretelling deaths showing a video of their deaths. Later, mysterious creatures invaded the whole country, and the students entered a pact, enabling them to summon demons. Due to the nature of the game, the plot may unfold differently depending on the actions of the player. Devil Survivor 2 has no relation with the first game in terms of plot, and it takes place in an alternate universe and timeline.
Devil Survivor 2 sold 63,000 copies during its first week of release, selling better than the first game which sold 55,466 copies in its first week. Devil Survivor 2 received critical acclaim in Japan, and was described as the last "true" game for Nintendo DS. The game was praised for its gameplay, graphics, features and the game's brighter tone than the first game.
