With today’s release of Mega Man 9 on WiiWare, I felt that it was a perfect time to take a look back at the classic games that made the Mega Man franchise what it is. There are many reasons the series grew in popularity, from the excellent controls and gameplay to the awesome style and graphics to the stunning soundtracks which, to this date, still stand as some of the best in the entire game industry. Who could forget this gem?.. (more)

It has come to my attention that many forum users in this crazy post-E3 2008 world have taken on a rather negative view of the future of Nintendo game publishing on the Wii. Not here on the Negative World mind you (ironic?) but elsewhere on this vast thing called the Internet. Apparently it can simply be assumed as word of law that Nintendo has completely and utterly abandoned the... shudders... "core" gamers to focus solely on the new market, and we should never expect another AAA core game from Nintendo again. But not content with this overly bleak future outlook, some are trying to destroy the past as well. It’s not just this E3 that Nintendo turned on us, it has been this way from the very start of the Wii! A small handful of decent Nintendo published titles interspersed with a large amount of casual garbage, while the other two console manufacturers are putting out AAA title after AAA title... (more)

I'm a bit hesitant about the multiplatform status... has there yet to be a 360/PS3/Wii action/adventure game where the Wii version didn't end up a bit gimped? But hey, at least Suda is still showing Nintendo the love. And Mikami involved as well, seems like the perfect team up. But erm... EA? Who would have thunk it? Then again with Mirror's Edge and Dead Space coming from EA it looks like they might finally be making real games. It also seems like Q Entertainment is involved in some form, what is with all these big team ups lately?! (more)

Yep, it is that time of year again. E3 2008 is officially over and now comes the weeks and months of dealing with the fallout. Microsoft started things off in true M3G4T0N fashion with a shocker, announcing that Final Fantasy XIII will be coming to the Xbox 360 (in the West,) leading legions of PS3 fans to contemplate slitting their wrists and ending it all. But they got over it soon enough; a truly massive online game called MAG from Zipper and a God of War 3 teaser at the PS3 conference stopped diehard fans on the razor's edge and gave them a second chance at life, not to mention confirmation that Eternal Sonata is finally coming to the US for PS3. Not quite a Final Fantasy XIII level steal, but enough to at least make it seem like a back and forth battle. Both sides still argue that they “won” E3, and both seem pretty content... (more)

What is the Negative World? you may ask. The Negative World is a Nintendo site run by the fans, for the fans. We started up back in 2001 or so based on an outcry for a Nintendo site not plagued with constant bickering and arguments, and have been going strong ever since. Instead of having a bunch of crazy moderators telling everyone what they can and can't do (and crazy trolls ruining the experience for everyone,) we have a core group of ever-expanding users that sets the course for the site. We believe this approach to a video game forum makes for the best user experience in the end... (more)

I would wager that the GBA is probably the greatest gaming system of all time. It has a massive variety of games, ranging from some of the best platformers (Wario Land 4 and the Super Mario games) to amazing RPGs (Yggdra Union, Kingdom Hearts, and Mario and Luigi) as well as everything in between. While it had a terribly short life compared to the original Gameboy, it was a haven for great games (as well as shovelware). And this thread right here on NeoGaf is an epic compilation of the greatest GBA games... (more)
