Welcome to the Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate thread! This will be our headquarters for coordinating our Hunts, sharing stories of war, and helpful hints for our brothers-in-arms, compatriots, friends, and neighbors. Please be mindful of folks' different definitions of "spoilers," and remember that not EVERYBODY played Monster Hunter Tri on the Wii, though everybody totally should've.


The "burden" of running this thread has been placed upon me but...I can't do it alone. I will lean on Maxi and others to help with the heavy lifting occasionally, both in planning things and also in feeding this thread. Please keep it bumped (once we get going). If you could, let us know if you're getting this game, WHEN you're getting this game, and what your aspirations are so we can get us situated in groups with likeminded people. Do you want to barely play this game? Is this going to be your new #1? The most fun with this game is had when you get to go out with a group of guys week in week out, so if we can find someone with a schedule similar to yours, you'll have the most fun with it.

Reading this thread is making me want to buy this game...but I'm still playing Tri with my sister, and I don't want to abandon her. I might have to wait until after the Tri servers close in April.

Keep playing with your sister and don't abandon her. By the time the servers for Tri close the worldwide server patch will up and we can all play together.:)

Man.... I love my wife. Net service at home got delayed again until Saturday, so my wife took me out yesterday to pick up a physical copy of MHU. And then she snuck in a surprise and let me get Gears of War Judgment. I should be at home playing them now, but I have to get some Club Nintendo surveys done before they expire. And THEN it's off to hunt Jaggis for the first time all over again. So good.... so very good... can't wait to get back on and go nuts with you guys.

Alright, growing pains here. Not sure how we're going to do all this stuff, but lets go:


Officially looking for a Posse tonight.
I wish to do the DLC Event Quest, preferably with folks who haven't done it yet.
Projected start time would be ~11:00pm EST. I think Anand is already on board.
Lemme know who wants to play? Wouldn't mind getting back out there with Mikey again, too (like old times), but we can go with whoever wants to play. A "I'll definitely play" goes much farther than "I'll see what I'm doing then."

I have to play a Madden game at Midnight sharp, but I can come back to MH afterwards if someone wanted to play later, too.

Saw that event quest last night and you have Rhynoplos and Bullfango in an arena and you can't wear any armor and you can get a fire GunLance out of it.

Maxi, my man! I know some people might not care at all, and I don't want this to be taken the wrong way (or too harsh?), but I prefer to discover the game on my own, so to speak, finding out what I find out..when I find out. Know what I mean?

So, like, spoilertagging is MUCH appreciated. I also don't use the Wiki deal at all for that very reason. I'm sure it is a great tool, but it goes against everything I feel about this game. I found out that Bomb Sacs come from those little jellyfish guys on my 2nd playthrough on like Hour 315 or something; imagine my confusion/excitement after wondering for the first 300 hours where I get Bomb Sacs. That is fun for me. I also like talking to people and learning things from stuff that THEY'VE "discovered" firsthand. Simply saying to someone "hey, how do I make a _______," and they tell you what to Combine? That is fun for me, too. I know we're splitting hairs at a point, and "someone else is still telling you," but it is different, to me at least.

I don't know anything about these new Bullfango critters, though I do know we have to strip down (as it was in the Quest description). As far as Rewards go, yeah, I didn't know anything about that stuff either (though Scrawn tried hard to tell me last night). I might be the only one that cares about any of this (sorry), but if Reward stuff could be spoil'd or whatever, that would be great. And even more damaging would be something like that Quest in Tri where you had to take off all of your armor again, to hunt the Sharks, but then a Royal Ludroth or 3 show up. If something extra shows up in this Quest, or another future Quest, I don't want to know ANYTHING about it -- EVER. There were few other Quests in Tri where that happened, too. Pretty..jarring if you aren't expecting it, as it should be. Thanks for understanding.


--So, when are you (and NinSage/Mop for that matter) getting in here yourself? Why the massive delay(s)?

I heard you guys say you were going to turn in your mushrooms and that we only needed 3 more. I finished foraging the mushrooms I was collecting and checked how many I had. Much to my suprise, I had 7 of them! I turned on my mic to tell you how many I had, but you two were already gone. Still let me finish the mission.

I'll be on after 12 p.m. tonight Mr_Mustache if you want to get together.

--So, you got credit for that mission, too? I hope so! I saw both of you guys just vanish. When I finished, it told me that I had been disconnected, so it looks like we all got booted together, though I'm glad it DIDN'T nuke our quests for us (as a Madden game gets squashed instantly). Helpful!

Okay I will try to limit myself on the spoilers. As for when I am getting the game. I need to get a Wii U, the game and I need to save up for both.If the only thing that I needed to get was the game I would probably have it at the end of the month but I need a Wii U too. Some other real life expenses have come up so I need to hold off a little on spending too much. As for Mop it up and NinSage I can't speak for them.

EDIT- to my plans!

I'll be on tonight as soon as I get home from work (latest is 11pm EST), and I won't be logging off at all. All Monster Hunter tonight, though my Madden stuff has been moved to tomorrow at midnight. I think my big online night this week of MH (aside from whatever gets done tonight) will be Friday night, though I CAN hop on tomorrow around 1a EST.

Is there any way to find out for sure when the codes expire these days? It shows the day, but not the YEAR, on Club Nintendo.

I can jump on at 10-ish Central. If'n I don't fall asleep after exhaustion due to yesterday's marathon.

Well, that specific quest REQUIRES you to ditch your armor, so that wouldn't really have an impact, and as far as weapons go..I'm using a Sword and Shield, but I think most of the other weapons are actually stronger than those off the bat.
