Alrighty everyone, the game is finally out in all primary regions.... IDreamofHime was the first to receive their copy here on the boards. This is the place to discuss it!!!

Welcome to the thread on Negative World where all wondrous Zelda talk can occur. I would recommend that if you wanna talk about deeper-game stuff as we get going, perhaps spoiler-tag it and then describe outside of spoilers where in the game it is. The recent Super Mario 3D Land Discussion Thread is a good example. That'll allow people who aren't too far to read the thread without actually spoiling stuff for them. Just try to be courteous but definitely have fun with the game and discussions!!

Have ye what it takes?

Be sure to hit up the Skyward Sword Game Page and add the game to your collection once you've received yours. Be sure to mark it as "Playing" while you work on it and after you're played it sufficiently, give it a score you deem fitting!

If you've beaten the game, click on over to roykoopa64's Skyward Sword story/ ending discussion (SPOILERS), and general thoughts thread! It's like this thread part deux!!

Why not sign up for a (free) account?
I'm super excited to play this. I fly back home to Portland next week for Thanksgiving so I'll probably pick it up the following week when I get back to the good ol' Bay...

... fuck I hate the Bay Area:(

Not sure who asked but there was no system update on the PAL disc.

Also I'm 7 hours and 8 minutes in and I'm at the entrance of the second temple. I'll play more tomorow but god damn this is amazing.

@bryanee1983 That's good to hear, on all counts. I hope the US disc also has no update.

Love your profile pic by the way.

Its one of the pics on the site, I decided not to change it when I could use my own because Twin Peaks raaaawks.

Yeah I thought that was a bit of a great video to though for some reason I think Mr. Kondo isn't nearly as comfortable with that kind of stuff as Mr. Aonuma.

You jerk.

Man I hope my copy makes it quickly to my place from Amazon. Next week is going to be torture as I wait for it to ship.

I beat the 1st temple and the game is sooooo good. I can't believe how beautiful it is. The character design and animations are fantastic, and the main hub is brilliant. It just feels so much more lively than Twilight Princess.
Loving the controls as well. They're as tight as motion controls have got and after a few mins really become 2nd nature. My only gripe is having to hold the sword up to do the Skyward slash, feels a little clumbersome compared to how smooth the rest is.

Bryanee, what HUD are you using? I'm using light as I felt the Pro just left the screen to barren. Zelda games have always had a HUD, and IMO it just feels right to have something there telling you what you have equipped. Standard goes overboard though.

I just made it to the next to the last dungeon. Found out that Ganondorf is Link's dad and Zelda's uncle. Man, this game has so many twists and turns.

What does pro show?
11/18/11, 09:45
Pro shows nothing but your hearts and ruppees.
Standard is whats always been shown in official vids/screens with the wiimote and nunchuck on screen and little notes telling you what each button does.
Light just shows equipped items and menu buttons, like OoT/MM/WW.

I'm using pro, I didnt really feel like there was all that much to remember regarding button placement so I had no issues getting shot of it. It does show what weapon you are using if holding B. And the Fi button on d-pad when she has something to say.

My shield was destroyed and after I bought a shiny new metal one I couldnt remember how to equip the bloody thing, I pressing buttons like a pleb until I remembered how to do it lol.

It's weird, because I wasn't that hyped until this week. Now it's like, "MAN, is it Sunday yet?!?!?!"

Maybe it's because it's been a crappy week at work, I have to work Saturday, but I have next week off. That might play into it a bit.

Quick question..is it possible to store away main items such as the beetle like you can with potions/shields?
11/18/11, 14:52
I got to "hold" it last night....

I was in the room with the pre-orders and cased copies ... and players guides. I almost lost it but I couldn't hold (caress) it for too long because someone would have wondered why I wasn't 'working' if the managers glanced at the security cameras of the R-Zone store room.

The Gold box is fantastic (bundle obviously) - The shine is a deep gold - maybe a tad deeper then the Ocarina of Time N64 Collectors Edition cartridge box but it's very close. If you have seen pictures, it's more difficult to tell the exact colour because of camera flashes/lighting etc. While looking at it, flash backs of me getting the N64 classic back in November of 1998 kept surfacing.

We had to stop the pre-orders of the bundle pack at 14 in fear of not getting enough two weeks ago. We could have sold a lot more if we didn't have to stop but I'm glad we did cause we only got 14 copies. We have lots of the actual game though. Because of this shortage, people who ordered a bundle pack at other Toys Stores for example who don't have enough, will probably be getting a free wiimote+ to compensate. I'm glad it's not happening here - man I would be pissed if I pre-ordered and didn't get what I wanted.

Thank god I preordered mine earlier. My bro tried at the same EB games and they no longer have the special editions! No special box or gold wiimote for him! And he doesn't even have WM+!

Wait, regular edition still comes with...a WM+... right?

I'm so happy I preordered early, hell, it was only like 2 weeks ago and I told my bro to just in case! I've preordered several games even a day or two before and never had a problem though, color me surprised.
11/18/11, 19:30

It comes with the music CD but no Wiimote.
11/18/11, 20:33
What's the attach rate for WM+?? Wasn't it just bundled with a few games? Me and my bro don't have it yet... We can't be the only ones.

Either way I guess it doesn't have it. Wasn't it originally supposed to? Or was that before the Wii Remote + stuff?
