If it wasn't GameStop with their "$5 less is the used price" nonsense and I had money to spare I'd be all over that one! Really great deal.

@J.K. Riki Their prices are a rip-off but even at like $55 for newish used games this works out to $110 / 4 = $27.50 per game, which is about as cheap as you will find these games right now, especially Nintendo games that rarely go on sale.

The problem is you have to want and be able to find 4 games at once. In the past me and my brother and cousins would all go get a game or so each but nowadays that doesn't work. Plus I just bought like 3? new games over the last few weeks or so that I haven't even had time to open yet!

Dunno if it was mentioned here, but Epic Games is giving away some pretty great stuff for free every day over the next 12 days, for the 12 Days of Christmas. Celeste was the other day (I managed to grab that one, but no those that came before it) and hey, free games are free games. :)

Understood! I think at this point I could manage 4, but let me think... Luigi's Mansion 3, FE: Houses, Dragon Quest (my wife's pick)... Hmm, yeah, that last one would be the tricky bit. If only AC was out now, ha ha. The bigger issue, of course, is I have way too much to play as it is so I need no new games. No matter how much Luigi is a'calling.

To be fair, with GameStop it's mainly newer(ish) releases which are barely less than the new price. For many older releases, the prices are more reasonable, and when it comes to older systems like Xbox 360, Wii and some others, they have quite a few cheap games. Condition is the only questionable thing there.

With that in mind, I had some free time to check out two different stores around here. One of the games which I'd been curious about is Has-Been Heroes which was oddly exclusive to GameStop and been out a while, so I grabbed it along with a buncha other cheap junk.

When I was looking through the games I got later on, I noticed that the wrong game card was placed into the case for Has-Been Heroes.

Can you guess which game was mistakenly placed in its case upon my purchasing it?

That's right. It's Super Mario Maker 2!

I literally let a laugh upon seeing it. How does one make this mistake? Nothing about the title or even colours on the game card label are remotely similar. Now, I had gotten this from the store farther away, so I tried to exchange it at the store that's closer to me. The clerk said that he couldn't process a case like this and it needs to be exchanged at the actual store from which it was purchased. He also gave me an odd look, as if I were trying to pull a scam or something of the sort, however I'm not sure why he would think this as the game they mistakenly gave me is worth a lot more than the one I tried to buy. I would have nothing to gain from that. In any case, maybe I'm just making excuses, but I'm not going all the way back out there to correct a mistake they made. I gave them a chance to take it back, so I feel enough like I tried that I'm just keeping it.

Anyhoos, just thought some of you folks here might find this anecdote funny!

That IS pretty funny! Has-Been Heroes was actually published by Gamestop, so it's even worse, kind of. (Not the game. It's fun.)

I still remember the time that I rented a game as a kid and found a bag of weed in the case. I kept it in my desk for a future potential sale. And then my sister threw it away. At least that's what she said.

I also remember this legendary Circuit City sale, where they were selling tons of games for $5 each. An embarrassment of cheap riches. I picked up so many that I left tons behind on the shelf, like Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes, Luigi's Mansion, Eternal Darkness, and Dragon Quest VII. Oops!

Months later, after CC folded, I opened up one of the games that I actually DID want to play, Robot Alchemical Drive, a remote-controlles mech game from the perspective of the operator on the ground (because, really, why WOULD you need to actually climb inside?), and it was full of tissues.

I demand my five dollars back!

And who the hell would steal that particular game?

Ys VIII is good stuff.

@TriforceBun Does Ys VIII feel like it's padded at all? One of the things I like about the first handful of Ys games is that they're like bite-sized, fast-paced JRPGs (10-15 hours). But then Ys Seven was double the length and half the fun. I see VIII is even longer. Does it overstay its welcome?

Sweeeeeeeet. Spyro is in there, and a friend of mine and me have had our eye on it to see when it might be on sale. If we go halfsies we can get a copy for like 11 bucks each. Deal!

So that Target thing had Dragon Quest XI at $49.99 with 25% off, which worked out to $39.09 after tax. But I got $50 of Target gift cards from Xenia Gifts for $45.35. Which means my ACTUAL cost for Dragon Quest XI was $35.45.

Pretty sweet!

Of course I still have some leftovers on those Target gift cards but that is fine, we go to Target probably once every few weeks anyway.

Hm, possibly, considering I haven't finished it yet! I really like the main story stuff involving building up your island base and exploring, but the B-plot stuff involving more mystical elements is a bit less interesting to me.
