Omigod, go get it! It's amaaaaazing. So much value. So addictive.

It might be the first game since Wii Sports to really stagger me.

It's hard to describe the sheer awesomeness of Monster Hunter. You need to experience it for yourself. That said, I did buy the game based on impressions in this thread and I've been immensely satisfied with it. Would be a shoe-in for my GOTY if the Wii lineup weren't so stacked this year.

Yeah man, get it! You can still hop in the Smerdmobile and upgrade with him! And there are plenty of overpowered jerks here (myself included, what a jerk!) who have no problem helping you along!

Theres a bunch of guys who stalled in the starter's gate, too. Maybe your purchase would reinvigorate them!

--You can still run with the egg, did you know that? You don't go THAT fast, but with some maneuvering you can get around the bugs and cats. I didn't know until WAY later that you can run with the egg. Just keep an eye on your Stamina meter!

I'd be more freaked out if I didn't know someone who fricking turned over the time-played counter.

The counter shows up everytime you turn on the game. It's just there!

Well Online was a bust... oh well..maybe another night.

However I did spend time getting re-aquainted with the game...combined a few new items....hunted a great jagi in the woods, upgraded my 'farm'... and did a couple of solo 3 star quests..including the Big Egg Fetch Quest! Yay - first try!

I like to thank Mustache for telling me that I can run with the damn egg without breaking it....

The only 3 star quest I have left is that noisy Quarapo bird thingy... I haven't attempted it yet myself although I have seen it a few times in online quests.. Any hints? I figured out that Sonic bombs will come in handy....

I found out that you can almost counter the Q-Bird. I was bopping him in the chest when he was trying to howl things, and I actually raped him of his buffs. Woo! Maybe you gotta be tougher for that to happen though? I'm not sure. Just block (as usual), and be on the move.

With any other opponent, learn his moves and commit them to memory. Before you know it you'll be rolling all over the place just like-a ringin' a bell, go-go...go, Smerdy, go go!

And yes, Sonic Bombs.

Yeah, just whale on his chest scrotum when he puffs it up.

Forget Sonic Bombs. They suuuuuck.

Don't listen to him! Anand doesn't have the coordination to holster his weapon and throw a bomb.
--Is there a Sonic Bomb Shot thing? Theres like, Exhaust Shot which smells like Poop or something..
I haven't done Gun stuff at all so I don't even know how it really works.

haha.. well maybe Anand could demonstrate the sonic bomb while holding a gun for us... if he can.

How about barrels? I have yet to use one... but I take it they can be pretty powerful... then I could maybe use a trap so I can freely wale on the sucker....

I'm thinking I could go online after 9pmEST till about 11pm EST tonight..will know later today....

bombing is a great skill to know. i'm a bomb master

again, you need the bombardier skill because
a) it makes every bomb combination 100%
b) bombs do more damage

large barrel+gunpowder = bomb (bring ten of each when you leave for a quest)

gunpowder = fire herb and nitroshroom

bomb + scatterfish = bomb+ (more powerful)

to get scatterfish go offline and send boats to shallow waters, go to a quest, spend 5 minutes , come back, sleep, repeat
OR sometimes the trading woman in the online game has scatterfish for trade (i think for machilite ore or something)

farm at least 50 scatterfish, they go quick
especially if you don't have the bombardier skill as you'll get a lot of garbage from combinign bomb+scatterfish
