@ everyone about "spoilers" Sorry. I'm just a putz who likes to discover a game for myself. I like to go in fresh. I think its wrong when a few apples spoil the bunch by saying whatever they want to, but since I'm in the minority with it, I guess thats my problem. So again, sorry. Just don't say/think that "nobody cares" about things getting spoiled, because I sure as hell do.
Spoiler, explaining my stuff to only simbabbad / Fabz. No one else read it: I thought that Lagiacruz was the end boss in this game for the longest time, only to have that ruined for me before I even knew about it. That kinda thing stinks, knowing that what you're going after isn't even the big bad guy before it ends. I JUST found out about the Altareon or whatever it is this week. The game has been out since April/May and I just found out about it..on here..by accident. I know you guys think that its not a big deal (I don't go to MonsterHunterWiki as you do), but it really is.
Fabz, I have NOT caught all of the Fish yet in Animal Crossing, and not knowing what else is out there for me to get is part of the thrill for me. Where do I fish? When? Big? Small? I can kind of figure it out based on the ones its around, but thats still me doing it; not being explicitly told "oh, you're missing the Sea Bass. Its a big fish, you can catch it anytime in the ocean." --Never in my wildest dreams would I divulge something like that; I've ruined games for people by accident before, and it just feels so terrible when I do it. I know you shouldn't have to tiptoe around here either, especially in a thread named for such. I'd hate to say to you though "oh, I'm having trouble with _________ about 25 hours in on Fragile" and you're like "what the F? I'm only 20 hours in!!" It kinda feels like that -- to me -- when you talk about things. Sorry. I'm not saying "don't come here anymore," and I wouldn't want you to stop coming here (meaning the thread); you're one of the few people actually talking about Monster Hunter. You'll probably champion the re-birth of Monster Hunter in this portion of the year, actually.
simbabbad, you seem extremely offended by the "cut from the same cloth" comment for some reason. You guys don't seem to give two poops about spoilers (or define them differently than I do), and thats why I said it. Even though I'm technically a higher level HR than you are, I still feel leagues behind you somehow. In my brain, I see you and Fabz out there slaughtering all kinds of huge beasts, ones I've never heard of. I was more or less making a suggetion to the both of you; Fabz has trouble finding reliable, friendly people, and you seem to have lost your way / interest in the game. Perhaps the each of you could rejuvenate the other? Just a friendly thought [for an awesome superteam], take it as no more than that. Sorry.
@ everyone else, again I can probably play late tonight. I think I'm going to see Dinner for Schmucks though after work.. Could be home late? Maybe I can play around 1a EST? I'll check back one way or another. Good luck whatever you do!
EDIT- Checked in, 1:13a. Nothin'. Have a good weekend, guys! |

Oops, I deleted Zero's post by accident when scrolling down the page. (Banned?) Anyway, he can probably restore it, but here it is: Zero said:No I know it isn't random drops, but I mean random crap as in there is no reason to ever care about any of it other than it is thig-a-ma-jigs to create whatch-a-ma-calits. Or let me even reword that. There is no desire, on MY end, to care about any of it. I don't get excited about collecting various things to create things with it. It's one of my most disliked gameplay mechanics ever and I pretty much ignore it in every game it is in, unless it is implemented on a very basic level. You'll never see me searching out 5 hidden sprites in an RPG to collect the pieces to make the uber armor. I'd rather just walk into a shop and buy new stuff. And I hate doing that even. I don't even buy new equipment in RPGs now until I start finding it difficult to progress with the stuff I have. There is nothing more annoying than spending time and energy to get new equipment only to have it be totally outdated an hour later in the game (or even less, in some games...)
The only time I can remember actually enjoying collecting was in Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime. And that was because you were collecting items to combine and build various kinds of ammo for your tank and you had like 30? ammo slots, so even when you did create some uber piece of ammo it only took up one slot and didn't make everything you did before it now useless. And since you could keep combining ammo into newer ammo and such, it wasn't really even until the end of the game that you had a full 30+ pieces of unique ammo such that you were finally NOT using some of the ammo you had. Even so, I never went far out of my way to find new ammo. The game was set up like a Zelda-lite, the furthest you were going to find anything was a screen or two off the main path.
I'm not criticizing the design choices of the game, just saying it's not my thing. I've still managed to have a ton of fun with the game just kind of pushing through making armor and weapons out of the stuff I find while out doing the main quests, but if it gets to the point where I HAVE to start farming, I'm probably done. |

I'm innocent! Well, not innocent, but not malicious... I was scrolling with the mouse wheel and accidentally clicked it as I scrolled across the Delete button. In my setup, clicking the mouse wheel opens the page in a new Tab. So a new page opened with the message removed. I didn't see any pop-up. @ZeroTri isn't really a game that you can just pick up and play casually. You kind of have to immerse yourself in it, and when you do (it isn't really THAT complicated), it should feel pretty manageable. You can get pretty far without upgrading at all. And I agree with Simba that Tri 'collectibles' are much more rewarding than those of other games, because they DO stuff and because they are the reward for a tense, exciting battle, rather than a protracted war of mouse-clickery. Plus, the hunting theme of the game is so well-integrated into the gameplay. And remember, you don't HAVE to collect anything. If you're just that good, you should be able to triumph on skills alone. (For a while, at least.) |
