Kind of on the fence, probably wouldn't get it unless we got some NW games going. Not really in the position to play local and I don't see any point in playing with strangers.
At the risk of being a booger, I'm glad that it apparently plays well, but I can't help but feel let down by the extremely light amount of content on display here. I just don't get why this type of game doesn't have more boards (and to a lesser extent, more minigames). The very first Mario Party had 8 boards, with a couple of them being rewards for playing a lot. Just feels like since it's not wholly original content that there should be a lot more meat here...!
Yeah! Nintendo's oddly (or maybe deviously?) skimpy when it comes to remastering stuff. Mario Party Top 100 on 3DS had the titular minigame remakes and barely anything else. They put out remastered Zelda games one at a time for full price. This game seems fine for what it is, and I'll be getting it since I'm enough of a partyer that I end up playing every Mario Party to death. So I'm "part of the problem(tm)". But Nintendo really could do so much more with this kind of stuff.
@TriforceBun I feel ya, I've felt Nintendo's always been a bit stingy with the budget for Mario Party games despite how well they sell, especially the more recent entries that have been getting chintzier but selling even more. And yet I own them all anyway since the gameplay is still fun regardless. Aauurgh they got me!
Yeah, it seems weird calling this The Ultimate Classic Mario Party Compilation when it only has a small fraction of the boards and minigames from the first three games.
The game itself is good and fun (my family had a blast, and all weekend long my wife rubbed it in my face that she beat me on her first try), but yeah, would have liked more than just five boards. This is ripe for DLC...I hope they don't go that route (or make some bonus boards free).
Last night’s game was totally hilarious. I couldn’t stop laughing, even though Zero won through dubious RNG garbage. So yeah, it’s Mario Party and it rocks!
It's not dubious to get a bonus star for moving the least amount of spaces when moving the least amount of spaces screwed you out of multiple stars in the actual game!
Me with 3 turns left, 8 spots away from a star that no one else is near... "Hmm, I'll just grab this star up quick and secure my victory."
WRONG.
The whole damn game was like this for me! I was still near the start like 5 turns in! Even Shadowlink got his first star before I got mine. You know THAT is bullshit!
/EDIT Because I'm a nerd I was curious about the odds of getting less than 8 in 3 rolls with 10 sided dice and I calculate 35 ways to get 7 or less out of 1,000 total possibilities. 3.5% odds. Which I guess isn't the lowest number, but OF COURSE I ended up in there.
