And they're actually telling us what characters got changed this time around! Would be nice if they actually said what the changes were, but hey, baby steps. (Nintendo IS for babies, after all.)
@DrFinkelstein I used Marth, with speed, jump, and down+B enhancers.
- You can counter the hammering Mario to get some early damage on him, and if you're lucky he'll drop the hammer. The first five or six tries I got him to drop the hammer so I could use it, but the next 20-30 he held onto it, the bastard.
- DK can actually be KO'd somewhat reliably by Marth's forward smash if you camp near the lower platforms on the right side (near where Peach starts).
- Get the stopwatches that appear. They're the only reliable way to chase down Peach.
- Honestly, your best bet is to just hope Peach biffs a recovery and KOs herself, drifting slowly down with her umbrella. That's how I ended up winning.
Hah. They made unlocking characters all fast and easy literally on the day that I gave the game to my bro for his bday. So perfect. He already unlocked a few by himself and seems to be liking the game so far (though a little intimidated as well) . It's his first Smash Bros so I'm really hoping he catches the bug the rest of us have and gets into it.
I seemed to have even better luck with online after the patch on the lag front. That my imagination? Smooth as butter.
I ran into my first real complaint with the game yesterday. There was a level in Adventure Mode where there are heavy winds and you literally CAN NOT beat it without certain spirits equipped. I find that cheap. I was miffed that I couldn't just get gud enough to achieve the victory on my own. :/
Otherwise man, this game is so freaking wonderful. :)
@Zero No, it reduced the CPU difficulty of the challengers.
@nate38@DrFinkelstein When I saw that battle had a power rating of 14,000 I was all like NOPE NOPE NOPE and didn't try it until later once I leveled up my spirits. It only took a couple of tries since I leveled the playing field in that way. My initial idea was to build the Final Smash meter and use that on Peach, but I ended up getting her with POW Blocks since she doesn't try to dodge them.
We were getting a new challenger after every regular Smash battle, so they did speed up the unlocking for new players anyway. Maybe that slows down back to normal after you unlock a certain amount though.
Yeah, but you can choose to use powerful spirits and make it easier or lesser spirits to make it a challenge. With that level there is not "here is a challenge" because you either use the right spirit or you do not win period no matter what.
@Hinph Oh, really? Interesting. I didn't hear about that, just the difficulty change.
Speaking of the update, I was curious about what would have changed with the characters this early, and people haven't really found anything other than some bug fixes. So that might've been all it was for now.
