What even is Picross?

I got it...plays like the Picross e series, but with more options (more music tracks, the big one). No touch screen controls is a bummer, but meh.

I believe you can do 2 player on this, right? It keeps track of which squares each player uncovers with a separate color.

I love Picross, but no touch, no buy. Sorry. Just can't go back from the joy that is Picross on the DS. Don't want to go back.

Sad to see. You're missing out JK. It's got a really clean interface for being controller-based. It worked back on Mario's Picross and it works great here.

Even if this had touch, I'm not sure I'd want to use it. Finger touches on these tiny squares could be cumbersome and could maybe lack the necessary precision of a stylus. The option would still be nice if some used certain styluses that work on these screens but I'm sure buttons work fine. That said, I'll still stick with the 3DS stuff since there's plenty there I haven't even played anyway.

Yeah, I'm missing out, but considering that I still fully enjoy all the puzzles in Picross DS even after completing the game six times (let alone all the Picross e games!) I can live with this tiny, tiny, tiny, tiny, tiny, tiny, almost-insignificant-it's-so-tiny thing.

If they ever make another with touch, I'm there. In the meantime, I'm fine.

Hopefully Nintendo doesn't think people lost interest in Picross when nobody buys it this time...

I've been playing it quite a bit while doing other stuff. It's so addictive! I've almost completed the standard 150, and now I'm on the third page of Megas. Mega Picross is pretty cool, actually, although I don't have it down to a science yet. It almost feels like I'm just guessing, but then the puzzle somehow magically completes itself. Mega definitely requires some new strategies. But it kind of sucks that the pictures are the same as the ones in Normal mode...

Anyway, I really like the marker feature, although they should have two kinds: one for tentative fills and one for tentative Xs.

Nintendo should bundle a retail touch-based game with a capacitive stylus, just so they remember that they exist.

Finished! And it apparently took me 45 hours. Holy fuck! Pretty good value for my 8 bucks.

I think that I've finally come to terms with Mega Picross. It definitely requires more creative thinking than regular Picross. Finishing puzzle feels much less like an algorithm.

Still, 45 hours... Picross and YouTube are a deadly combination.

Great job man! As huge of a fan as I am of Picross, I have not been giving my time to this one too much. I'm looking forward to doing so though.

Are you moving on to Mario Odyssey now?

I'm at 45ish hours and have 12 Mega Picross puzzles to go. The value in this game is ridiculous.

I played this while still going through puzzles in Picross 3D Round 2, and I kind of find 2D picross boring, now? It's just a way to kill time for me at this point, but I wouldn't say I'm having fun.

Maybe I should quit the regular puzzles and try and learn Mega Picross.

edit - No touch controls really doesn't bother me. The larger picross puzzles plays better with d-pad, even on DS.

Mega puzzles really do pose a more interesting and involving challenge. The normal Picross puzzles become sort of automatic, once you reach a certain skill level. Except for the occasional bump in the road.

That's where I find myself at Anand. I've been doing these for years and to me the Mega Puzzles are where it's at. I do wish they wouldn't re-use the puzzles though, but I guess I can understand...

Dude, check out the indie Picross-like demo on the Switch. Color-Pix, or something? It feels a little low-rent, but the mechanics offer a nice twist on the Picross formula.
