Never in our lifetimes did we expect Mario and friends to ever utter the sounds of our purring feline friends and yet here on November 22nd, we all will get that chance. Luckily from what many reports say, Super Mario 3D World is an incredible platforming experience that not only looks great in HD but it plays great with the gamepad.

This game is a first in another way as well, with it being the first 3D Mario title to feature simultaneous multiplayer. Now you and your family or friends can run and stomp and pounce together while fighting all sorts of enemies, new and old. Many power-ups make a return but plenty of new ones are featured as well.


There is no doubt about it; the music and graphics look great and this holiday season it's going to be a system-moving release.

Who out there is buying? How many spoilers have you allowed? (I accidentally saw some big ones just researching images for this thread!) What are you most excited for? Soon enough, share your thoughts and tips and tricks!

Please be conscientious to big spoilers once the game releases. Discuss the game openly but spoiler tag any unlockables or be sure to denote when you're talking about late-game content with perhaps a World 7-5 type bold note ahead of a level-based discussion.

Who knows, maybe they will! A new world perhaps. New playable character? That'd be bonkers! They could pull this stunt at any time honestly.

Yep. They really should.

They have nothing to lose. They can guarantee quality and fans can guarantee sales.


Down for world, character, skins, anything. Nintendo should take the MK8 DLC reactions to heart. It's money to be made when great content is put out there (and great price!). Surely they see this.

Super Luigi 3D World? I'd be down.

I wonder if they could add in Yoshi or something. That's about the only major thing missing from this game.

That's the easiest section of Champion's Road to me, and yes, you clear it, you're pretty much in the clear. I have a hard time getting up the wall-jumping section. Once I can clear that with any character, I'm golden. Good luck!

Well I sunk another half hour into Champions Road again tonight. Made it to that last section 3 or 4 times. Never got more than two of the question mark things though.

@nacthenud Who are you playing as? I think that stage is like 100x easier with Peach than the others, though Mop it Up feels otherwise.

I think your own individual playing style affects which one of the characters that help you the most on that stage. Normally I'm a fan of Peach, but when it came to that particular level I did much better with Rosalina. The whole quasi double jump thing she does with her spin allows me to compensate for any minor mistake, and jump far with ease. If you can get to the final section with Peach you should be able to beat it though, 'cause her floating should help you avoid the beams and all that.

You play really well up until, well, you die. Not sure if this helps at all, but what I do is go for the key thingamabobs in the middle first, proceed towards where the exit will be, then hang a right and try to grab those closer to the camera so I can finish with the ones you started with. That way it feels like I get a sense of the beam circle patterns and let the initial ones die out before I need to run out to the edges. Maybe you're like Zero though, and would do better with Peach? If you lose track of where you are with her you can always compensate by floating back towards ground.

This might sound a bit masochistic, but watching that vid I kind of miss the days when I sat and tried to get through that level with all the characters.

I might try that next time. I usually go for that side first because I want to get the herder part out of the way and not get my hopes up if I'm going to botch it, but maybe getting a rhythm down will be beneficial.

I always play as Mario and move down the ladder but surprisingly, as much as I love 3D World, I haven't gotten past the flipping switch blocks part (not even sure what the actual strategy is, and I kinda refuse to use Peach first) in Champion's Road. In fact I haven't beaten any of the last world levels. I love the game so much I've been meaning to leave this stuff for me to come back to later.

Same with last 2 levels in TF. That shit is insanely hard.

@nacthenud You can also use a ground pound to stop yourself at that booster section, that really helped me out at least.

That was the tip I needed. I didn't think about using a butt bomb. I figured out that the centre section was wider with more room for error. So I would go to centre wait for the blasts to converge, jump, double jump, butt bomb (because the butt bomb lets you hover longer as you wind up) then follow the blast out to a question mark, return to centre and repeat.

Finally vested this challenge. W00t! Now to get the marathon 30 star level and I'm done.
