Miis = lame. They really should have updated the look and avatar features.

Keep me updated! I need to live vicariously through Americans.

Miiverse = constantly connected, Nintendo social network. Video chat, forums, visual representation of game popularity.

Yep, looks fun.

Hmmm... nothing too exciting here. Will have to wait until Tuesday to see some games other than New Super Mario Bros Mii.

Social networking features are nice I guess.

New Super Mario Bros Mii (if that's what that short clip was) looked a little less bland-visuals than DS and Wii, so that's neat.

That was kindof a waste. Nothing new and what was new is stuff I'll never use.

@autokymatic

Yea, if the miis are not updated, that is just pathetic.

It's nice to see a Nintendo social network built into the system.

By the way, it seems very unlike Nintendo to allow us to see other people's messages and drawings. Normally they like to protect us behind friend codes.

This was an awesome video. The WiiU really is going to be something different and I think Iwata's concept and vision in general is kinda beautiful. I appreciate that angle he's going with because it's something the rest of the industry isn't. The Wii U controller is nice, that special Wireless Pro Pad is AWESOME, and hell, I even liked that "New Super Mario Bros. Mii (or Wii U) footage I saw. Great stuff.

@canonj Maybe when Nintendo was reaching out to 3rd party developers, that might've been one of the issues that came up.

Together. Better. :)

Nintendo needs to talk about the power of the console itself and how the graphics are that much better than the other systems. Seriously, people are not going to plunk down a bunch of money for outdated graphics.. And if NIntendo just ignores what the WiI U has under the hood, then people will ignore the Wii U. Plain and simple.

@gamewizard65 I'm pretty sure he said that they'd be showing off the graphics on Tuesday. After all, it's not much good to talk about how good the graphics are without showing any games. Hell, they told us it would do 1080p last year and everybody's still bitching because we haven't really seen anything, so how would talking about the graphics today help anything?

@gamewizard65

1. The graphics aren't going to be outdated.

2. The average consumer wants something unique and easy to use that won't break the bank....graphics are very low on their list of priorities. As long as the Wii U provides a fresh experience (which seems very likely), people will buy into it.

@gamewizard65

They'll discover that on tuesday when we see games.

You were really that under-whelmed by this presentation?

See 2006. The Wii.

As for these graphics, even if they weren't "that great" compared to the next gen, we already know they're going to be a hell of an upgrade from the Wii. People are going to be happy. I for one. And it will sell just fine.

It seems the purpose of the video was to clearly set the WiiU as a new system in order to clarify for those who were confused after last year. Although they are going an awful long way to avoid showing the system itself for any length of time.

Agreed. Nintendo has been lacking on the friend interaction and they're now addressing that in a totally Nintendo-esque style.

Yes I was VERY happy to see the new Wii U Pro Pad. I assumed we'd be limited to either the screen controller or the Classic controller. I never liked the trigger buttons on the Classic and preferred the Xbox controller. Well now from what I could see it looks like the new Pro Pad will be very similar. Great news!

New Super Mario Bros Mii now super confirmed. If there's a Wii Sports 3 equivalent, Wii U has got two mega sellers at launch.

Make it three with DKCR2, Retro.

I thought this was amazing! I love that online gaming hub and the message board like chatting with friends about the current game being played. Simply brilliant. Its like having Negativeworld within the Wii U os. This is exactly what i wanted!!
