That's the thing I like the most about all this. The return of the Super Famicom/PAL SNES button colours.

I'll likely pass on this. My XL is fine and I don't know what game will come out that will make me want a second analog. Maybe a Zelda with a movable camera?

Idk for me it's too late in the 3DS' life for me to get a new one.

Unless I got one and gave my XL to Amanda hmmmm

Nintendo wins life forever.
Xenoblade Chronicles is one of the best games of all time. Being able to have it on the go to play whenever I have the urge is fantastic. I don't care if I already have it on Wii, I'm buying a New 3ds just for this.

I really feel like Nintendo just slapped their dick on my face and proceeded to defecate on me. I haven't even had my Zelda 3DS XL for a year yet. There have only been two games I have played on it as well. Luckily, it does not come out until October next year.

@Brook

Just do what I'm doing and give the new 3DS a "pass." I've always been really satisfied with my XL since I got it, and while some of these new features are nice (the extra viewing window is probably the main one for me), it's nothing that really makes me feel like I gotta have it.

This is assuming some amazing new game doesn't release exclusively for the new model, though.

I doubt many games will use them, but the ZL and ZR buttons seem like they're in a place that'll make them really tough to use.

@TriforceBun

Oh, I pretty much have to get it. I did beat Xenobalde already, but I am going to have to double dip. Plus, even though I generally dislike 3D, it seems to be improved. It might be improved to the point where I'll actually like it. And we all the the First Party games will be much better on the New 3DS.

It's likely that the NA versions will be different anyway, but I want the XL but with the multi-colored buttons.

My first ever Nintendo console was a Super Famicom, to me that design is the most Nintendoey Nintendo. Love those buttons.

Can't wait to grab one of these. Xenoblade in the palm of my hand IN 3D is going to be awesome. And playing Monster Hunter 4 with that cute little analog pad is going to rock.

Hopefully we get a couple more Wii ports for this thing. Punch-Out!! Wii in 3D, please!

@r_hjort

Me too! They're just so awesome! But it stinks that they're only on the littler version. Granted, the beefier one has colorful lettering, but it's just not the same. I may have to downsize just for those little darlings! Of course, the NA version will probably be stripped of all character and charm.

One thing I couldn't figure out in the presentation was when they had the current 3DS top screen next to the new 3DS top screen, and the new screen was shown dimmer. What was that all about? Does it dim based on the environment?

Overall, I like most of what this new 3DS is all about, save for the stylus placement. And, I really hope they actually put decent speakers in these. Not everyone likes to use headphones!

@Jargon Well, most of us said we would be happy to be wrong, so it is easily digestible.

One thing that I also said they wouldn't do is release a new model and then release games that can only be played on that model. And I still think this is a terrible idea. I'm not personally too affected because my 3ds broke and I need a new one anyway, but I am now VERY glad that I didn't run out and replace it over these last few months. I would have been peeved.

This is literally my wet dream. OMG. Just when my interest in video games was waning and at an all time low, Nintendo sucks me back in. SUCK ME BACK IN!!!!

My only minor gripe is that the C-stick looks too tiny, not if it will be as comfy as a full-sized pad, not sure why they felt the need to make it so dinky, but hopefully it works well, and hopefully this means some FPS on the system, I don't care if it's only a COD game, anything!

Can't wait for this to come to the west, also hoping they re-release XENOBLADE CHRONICLES, I've never played it but I'd play the hell out of it on this thing.

Xenoblade on a handheld always seemed like a perfect fit to me. Glad to see Nintendo agrees with me.

ENJOY YOUR CROW, NEGATIVE WORLD!!!

Eh, I won't eat crow unless they pack the whole game in without it losing anything in the transition. Which I doubt they will do.

But I guess it will be an ok alternative for those who were unable to play it in all of its glory on a big screen TV. Amirite?

Just watching the Direct (so nice to see Iwata back presenting!). I can't believe the New 3DS actually uses eye tracking to ensure the 3D effect is aimed right at you, that's crazy. I hope it works well.

As for the CPU bump and exclusive games... I suspect Xenoblade -needed- the extra power to work on a portable, the trailer for it still looks a little sluggish compared to the Wii version. However most future games will make use of the power but work slightly less well on a regualr 3DS. There may be more exclusives but I think that will be as rare as DSi exclusives. Overall this is a much better situation than DSi, as New 3DS owners can benefit from the power without developers being scared off by a tiny userbase.

You know, with this new model, we'd be able to control every single Wii U game with a New 3DS. Hmmm...!

THIS is what I've been waiting for, for the longest time. I can't believe they actually added everything that I wanted on the small version!

1. 3DS XL form factor.
2. Second analogue.
3. Zl and ZR buttons
4. Better battery life
5. Better viewing angle

And they also added stuff I wasn't even thinking about.

The only bad thing is that this doesn't come out this year.

As I said in the other thread, my resisting temptation to get a 3DS XL has really paid off! Assuming this comes out in NA for the holidays, it's going to be great getting this and Smash Bros. for my birthday/Xmas. I'll be able to play games that use X again!

Lucky SOB. Now I wish I waited for this. But my XL is nice as well.

Improved 3D is huge for me. Is screen size the same as XL? Love the SNES looking whitegrey one. Colored buttons look great. Distancing themselves from the Wii look? More buttons is nice as is second analog.

Xenoblade port? Hope it sells well. That series needs to thrive and be a Nintendo mainstay. 3DS should help ensure that and whet people's appetite for the home console sequel.

Fake edit: Oh wow Xenoblade and orher certain games only work on this model?? How much of a power boost are we seeing?

3D Viewing Angle is the real bullet point for me.

@carlosrox

There's no power boost, is there?

I imagine it doesn't work with the old one because of lack of buttons.
