After more than a year, 29 episodes into the grand Negative World Podcast experiment, we still manage to get newcomers to volunteer! Host and editor Guillaume welcomes Anton (a.k.a. Scrawnton) and Joe (a.k.a. Ninsage) on the podcast for the very first time. Together, they talk about Tales of the Abyss, Kirby's Return to Dreamland, Resident Evil Revelations, StarCraft 2 and Serious Sam 3!
They then delves into topics such as special edition hardware, GBA connectivity and its link (get it?) with the Wii U, and party games. Anton waits until the very last second before hitting the homerun that wins the game.
As usual, the theme music comes from Negative World's owner and dictator, Zero. The music throughout the podcast is taken from Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles for the GameCube.
Comment on the topics, the podcast, the guests, the host, etc. on Negative World! Or, be a weirdo and post them on Facebook or Twitter instead.
I'm having trouble creating the m4a file (stupid Chapter and Verse only wants to create a m4b file and it's messing everything up, I don't get it), so I'm posting this and I'll update with the enhanced version once I figure it out.
I'm 30 minutes in. Very good as of now. About special editions systems, my girlfriend is batshit crazy about the Fire Emblem special edition 3DS model. She's pretty disapointed that it's Japan only & region-locked. Fingers crossed for a North-American release.
Weird. I never saw anything about this podcast. And I actually had let it be known before the last podcast was taped that if I was not on that one, I wanted to be on this one. I remember Stephen even saying that would work or something like that cause my timing wouldn't fit in with the timing of the last podcast's recording.
I just think it strange cause I would keep seeing posts about how tough it has been to get people to be on the podcasts. Im not mad or anything, but I figured since I mentioned before the last podcast was taped that I would be on the next one, that someone would have pm'd me when it was close to do the next podcast. Its not like I live on the boards 24/7 and I just went ahead and volunteered to be on this one to try and help out.
Its fine with me that you got a couple people who had not been on the podcast, tho. I figured someone would have pm'd me or something. I mean, why volunteer to be on the next podcast if no one is going to contact you one way or the other.
Hey! About that party games topic: I played Mario Kart: Double Dash!! using 4 Gamecube linked together. T'was pretty limitative, but still pretty cool.
Also, yay for the Crystal Chronicles theme in the end... But the Japanese version is better IMO.
Great episode, I really enjoyed the commentary between the three of you. You guys know your stuff really well!
I want to play Tales of the Abyss.
When discussing RTS games, I am reminded of the great Game Boy Color game Warlocked. It was pretty ambitious for the system.
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles has nice music. I own the official soundtrack CD and some of my favorites were selected.
I do appreciate special edition systems. I think it's cool being able to choose a color or design that matches your style and you can admire when you're not playing a game. Unfortunately I have not been in a situation where I have a big selection since I'm usually an early adopter and do not wait for the new colors and designs to become available. And I'm not willing to pay for another system again just for the skin change.
The GBA Micro faceplates are awesome, Guillaume, and not just because they act as screen protectors. I have a lava type design on mine as I play Pokemon at this very moment! (2nd one in the image).
Great discussion on connectivity, I didn't use the GBA cables much but Pac-Man Vs. was a lot of fun, and I can see Wii U possibilities being greatly expanded on.
It's been a while since I played video games in a party setting, but Wii Sports and Guitar Hero/ Rock Band were always the top picks some years ago when I would visit non-gamers' houses. As for Mario Party titles, I probably spent the most time with 1 and 4.
Nice ending, that's pretty funny Guillaume had to say 'not now guys, I'm doing my own thing!'
@gamewizard65 Always pop into the podcast thread when it's bumped! Nobody is ever PM'd unless they volunteer for the immediate podcast. You should see the podcast thread near the top when they're soliciting.
I understand that no one is ever pmed and asked to be on a podcast. On the last podcast, I remember they was desperate to get a few people cause no one had volunteered. I had pm'd Stephen, at least I think it was Stephen, it might have been Gui, that I would help out on that podcast, though the time Stephen wanted to do it, would not work for me, unless he wanted to wait for me to make it home, which would have been around 10pm that night. Or anytime on the weekend would be good.
I then said, if that doesn't work, then I would definatly be on the next podcast to help them out. That way they would only have to look for either 1 or 2 people. I can't remember Stephen's exact words, but something along the lines of, don't worry about this time, cause the time I was available would not work for him, but next time would be great.
At that point I figured I would be pm'd close to the time when the next podcast happened, meaning this one. I think Stephen hosted the last one, and then Gui would be hosting this one. I would assume that the both of them work together a little on this since they are the hosts and Stephen would have mentioned to Gui that I volunteered to be on this podcast a couple weeks in advance. I believe I also posted in the normal podcast thread and the thread that Gui had made about desperatly needing people close to the same content I pm'd to Stephen, though I cannot be 100% sure, as that was 2 weeks ago. I don't see why I would need to volunteer a 2nd time to be on a podcast I had already stated that I would help out.
Like I told Gui in the PM, I'm not pissed off or anything. I was a little bummed though. Oh well, its not the end of the world.....at least not yet, that happens in Dec. 2012. Ha,ha.
@Davoid I sent Gui a link to all the songs. I'm not sure why I didn't pick the Japanese version of the song. I must've be been brain dead at the moment.
