Happy Easter (to those who celebrate it) and Happy Podcast Day to everyone else! Episode 61 here which is chock full of Smash Bros. discussion goodness! Stephen (DrFinkelstein) and Joe (Ninsage) invite two awesome guests into the fray. Those being Grant (GameDadGrant) and Chris (chrisbg99) of course.

There's absolutely no time for current gaming as the group looks into the future at the upcoming Smash Bros. games for Wii U and 3DS. Topics range from arrival dates, to new content, and various other debates and discussions. It's a packed two-and-a-third hours of podcast action.

In leu of an interlude break this time we have a whole Smash Bros. Music Trivia segment where Grant, Chris, and Joe open their ears, use their minds, and try to figure out which short song clips belong to what franchise from the Super Smash Bros. Brawl game. The winner originally was going to get their name in the title of the podcast, but then ol' DrFinkelstein realized that would spoil it before listeners could have a chance to finish the segment. So that said, Congratulations to the person who won and so understandably is missing from this episode's title. Of course, a thanks to Zero for the theme music.

Please comment on the topics, the podcast, the guests, hosts, etc. on Negative World! You can also reach us through Facebook or Twitter. We would really appreciate the feedback. It's the best way for us to know what makes our listeners happy and we'd love to respond to some things on the next episode.

Since I listened to 59 and 61 back to back, I got a double dose of Grant, and it was good! Chris was also great. I'm hardly the biggest Smash fan, but I do enjoy playing it, and it's hard not to get excited hearing you guys talk about it for so long. I also really loved the quiz segment. Entertaining as hell! Kudos again for all the time put in to the podcast by everyone. Stephen and Joe and all the great guests. You guys are awesome. Keep up the good work!

Good ep, guys!

I enjoyed hearing the Smash-y conjecture.

I wonder if the villager will get more mileage out of the Pitfall item. Also, they specifically avoided featuring a direct axe attack, right? But they should at least let him hit people over the head with a net. As far as the tree-chopping thing, it seems like a way to make life unpleasant for people trying to recover back onto the stage.

Little Mac's Smash move should be a Star Uppercut insta-KO!

Anyway, Sakurai is hilarious. The recent Directs have been pretty awesome. Iwata's adorable, but the American Direct should continue to be filled with Treehouse-y goodness!

In the recent Mario Kart Direct, after MechaReggie got the directions from Nate Bihldorff, he should've backhanded him into the wall and knocked him out. Just throwing that out there.

I could have sworn I posted in this thread. Disagreeing with the comment about different fighters in Smash Brothers being the same as different characters in a Mario game. But maybe I posted that elsewhere. Anyway... it's a fighting game! The fighters matter a ton! And getting to try out new ones is part of what makes each new game fun. Which makes me worry a bit about how the Wii U game will feel if I've already burnt myself out on the new characters with the 3DS game.

Plus items will be the same too, right? So it's really just better graphics and new stages in the Wii U version? And maybe some side mode stuff.

Oh geez, no idea now. It was something Stephen said, I believe. I think it was just a tiny part of a bigger comment but still... the overall point he seemed to be making was that not having unique characters in each version didn't really matter much, and I can't agree with that!
