NEGATIVE WORLD NEWSLETTER VOLUME 2, 09/09/12, 00:06

Greetings Guest,

Hi! I know it has been awhile, I was going to write these newsletters more often but you know... I got busy finishing up graduate school, visiting Canada, all of that. But this isn't about me. So let's do this!

Webcomics

We now have webcomics! Ploot is back with his Negative-World-user-based comic Two Minus Three. Bunker Man brings his particular brand of insanity to his Mega Man sprite-based comic Breath to Images. And Zero (myself) and newcomer Bescherelle have teamed up to create The Cloud Chasers, a hand-inked comic with a touch of surrealism. That's a lot of variety in just 3 webcomics!

And much like anything else at Negative World, this isn't just a passive thing for you to consume. Any user can create and manage their own webcomic on Negative World, just send me a message and we will talk about setting it up. I (and others) are looking forward to seeing your webcomic in action!

Tournaments

Mario Kart 7 tournament (must be logged in to view) - Starting up very soon (tentative start: Friday, September 14th.) We have done a few Mario Kart tournaments in the past and they are always a lot of fun. And who knows, maybe Negative World will reach into the pot and give out some prizes this time around?

Events

Unfortunately for those who haven't been around in awhile, you just missed our Backlaugust, where we spent the entire month of August cracking down hard on preselected backlog games to finally finish them off once and for all. But do not fret, we have plenty more gaming events in progress and in the works, including:

The Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn club (must be logged in to view) - Yes, this one is already in progress, but it's not too late to join! The entire month of September will be dedicated to playing through and discussing Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn which is, incidentally, my favorite of the Fire Emblem games. Sothe rocks.

Retro Game Club #12 - Mole Mania - Is this a hidden Nintendo gem? So far it seems like the answer is "yes", but how will you ever know if you don't join us in our playthrough and discussion of this rare Miyamoto game?

Negative World Movie Club (must be logged in to view) - What does this have to do with Nintendo / video games? Nothing! And that is why it's awesome! Join us as we watch and discuss movies week to week chosen by, whom else, the members of Negative World. It's a nice break from games, games, and more games.

Shocktoberfest 2012 (must be logged in to view) - Coming on the heels of Backlaugust, Shocktoberfest is a chance for you to play through and discuss horror games throughout the month of October. Whether a game that is new to you, an old favorite, or just one stuck in your backlog, it is your choice! Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Fatal Frame... heck even something like 999 would fit. Backlaugust was a ton of fun with a lot of participation, and I anticipate that Shocktoberfest will be the same.

2012 Meet-up (Montreal)

Last year we (except not me) did New York, this year we (including me) did Montreal (must be logged in to view). A week long meet-up of insanity and debauchery. Or maybe just playing a ton of video games and hitting up the city here and there. Either way it was a ton of fun and we got to do stuff you rarely get to do like playing 8 player 3DS and Zelda 4-Swords, and everyone who didn't go should probably be jealous of everyone who did.

Everything else

The above is just a small part of what is going on at Negative World. We're continuing to crank out our podcast, which is only getting better and better. We're discussing all of the new and greatest games, both on the forum and in the chat room. Most of all, we're creating things and sharing things and getting involved because that's what makes life interesting (I think...) If you have an idea for a fun event, we're either already doing it, or will be once you tell us about it and we make it happen together. And don't be scared off if you aren't a raging Nintendo fanboy like some of us may sometimes come off as... Nintendo is just the core of the site, but we talk about anything and everything else. It's just good people and good times.

Oh, and don't forget to let your friends know about Negative World! If they don't want to sign up for an account (even though it only takes like a minute) they can still follow us on Facebook or Twitter.

Alright, I'm out. Hopefully it won't be another 6 months before the next newsletter...

Regards,
Zero (Site Owner / Developer)
