NEGATIVE WORLD NEWSLETTER VOLUME 1, 02/04/12, 22:13

Greetings Guest,

Welcome to the first ever Negative World newsletter! Whether you're a new member or old school, active or a lurker, there is plenty of neat stuff going on that you will probably want to know about. But I'm going to tailor this first newsletter to those who haven't been around in awhile, so if you're a site regular you can probably just skip down to the fun stuff below.

For starters Negative World has gone through a massive overhaul over the last couple of years, both visually and in functionality. We now have a much-praised podcast (over 25 episodes and counting), frequent news, editorials, and reviews, a large user-created game database where users can rate games and manage their collections, an (unofficially official) site comic, a chat room, a user leveling and experience system, and much more! All of this taking place under a sleek new design with multiple site skins.

Negative World also had a massive influx of users during this period and the site is more active than ever! We now have over 500 users and over 200,000 posts on the forum. And there are plenty of fun ways to get involved in this growing community. We run a frequent Retro Game Club where members play the same classic game together and discuss (current game: ActRaiser.) We also exchange system codes and frequently meet up online to play games together, and we even have our own Negative World Mario Kart 3DS communities. We regularly have contests and competitions surrounding various games. And last summer we had an official Negative World meet-up in New York City that went very well (we're looking at maybe Montreal for this year.) Of course, the main way to get involved in the community is still the Negative World forum, where we talk about videos games (both on Nintendo platforms and otherwise) and well... anything else that we feel like talking about, related to gaming or not.

And don't forget, this is a community about you. If you have any ideas for how to express yourself on the site beyond the functionality that currently exists, all you have to do is let us know. Many of the features of Negative World, from the podcast to the comic and more, came about because members had an idea and we worked to help them fulfill it. And we are continually getting more and more of our reviews and editorials posted on places like GoNintendo and Kotaku, so if you have any aspirations to write, Negative World is the place to be. We don't have a bunch of hoops to jump to get involved, you just have to have an idea and start writing!

If you're a bit nervous about jumping back in after all of this time, don't be! We want to hear from you. And if you don't know where to start, you can always jump into the community thread (must be logged in to view) and reintroduce yourself. We're not going to bite, I promise. And don't worry if you have completely forgotten your password, you can visit the Password Reset page to get a new one.

Also, don't forget to add us on Facebook and Twitter! It's a quick and easy way to keep in the loop.

Hope to see you all soon!

Regards,
Zero (Site Owner / Developer)
