One of these will be my first "arcade" purchase on the VC.

Ironically, the 3DS Virtual Console is more dead than the Wii one.

Sweet! I'm planning on getting these on another platform however; probably the 360. Although it would be really cool if they hit Steam

May 10th is tomorrow!

Wonder Boy in Monster Land; thats like Adventure Island stuff? Am I thinking of something else?

The original Wonder Boy is what Adventure Island was based on. I haven't played the later Wonder Boy games, but it's my understanding that they're pretty different. For one thing, they have RPG elements and non-linearity.

I don't know if non-linearity is an attractive feature anymore to me. Did I tell you that I bought Solstice recently? Yech....

@Mr_Mustache I don't know what Solstice is.

I have Solstice, and yeah, it's bad. You don't want to know what it is...

I've never even heard of these titles.

Are they good?

@New Forms The Wonder Boy series is generally very highly-praised. Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap I've seen described by multiple people who'ved played it as one of the best 8-bit games ever made; even rivaling Super Mario Bros. 3 for that title. I have yet to play any of the series (aside from the first game, which is unlike the others), but it's one I plan on going through someday, when I have the time.

Sweet. Sounds like something worth looking out for.

Thanks for the heads-up.

While not games I'm interested in, I'm glad the Wii VC is still showing signs of life.

Wonder Boy is awesome, will check out Monster Land.

I don't know anything about Monster World IV. It's kind of part of the Wonder Boy series, but kind of not or something? That series is F-ing confusing.

Yes it is. I have never understood it either.

From what I understand, the Wonder Boy sequels aren't like the first game at all. Where the first game was like the first Adventure Island, but much better, the other games are Metroid-like in design and include RPG elements.

The series IS confusing.

There's two separate but intertwining series; Wonder Boy and Monster World. Thus you get stuff like Wonder Boy 5: Monster World 3 or some silly thing like that. Finally Monster World IV came out, as the first game in that series that's not also a "Wonder Boy" game (probably because the main character is a girl), and that is one of the two that will soon finally have an official English release, thanks to this coming VC release

The games are now available on PSN, for $5 each.
