Neat to see a Wii VC game, but... I'm still sad to see eShop VC games being released at a trickle, AND it's a game we all already own anyway. Even without the Ambassador thing, we all own it.

Release some more goddamn good Game Boy games, Nintendo.

Is this our Wii VC release for the year?

@Guillaume

It's not a complete list. Nintendo hasn't put out an official press release yet, so we may get something else (Wario Land) today.

Your source says it looks like it's the final list, now.

I think this was mentioned in the Radio Free Nintendo podcast... but I wonder if Nintendo is kind of holding back on VC releases in the eShop since Ambassadors (the hardcore fans who are most likely to download stuff) just got 10 NES games and 10 GBA games, and might feel like they "have enough" games for the moment. Like, Ambassadors have so many games to play right now, the likelihood of one going online and downloading (yet another) game may be a bit tempered.

I know I fall into that category. I've been meaning to get Super Mario Land 2 and replay that one, but... the 3DS has so many games right now that I'm holding off until later.

I'm siding more with the part where Jonny said he's pretty pessimistic about the eShop ever having a wide library of Game Boy games. The Wii got the majority of its VC games before the introduction of Wiiware, then the releases considerably slowed down. With original games and NES games (and soon Game Gear games) competing with Game Boy releases, well I'm pretty sure I know what's gonna happen.

And get SML2 already: you can beat the game in 2 hours!

I am holding off at the moment too, so much to play its ridiculous.

If they release Metal Gear Solid on GBC however I would download it in a heartbeat, I never got around to playing it and would love to have it on the go.

The update to NES SMB has a nice menu icon and save states.

Yeah I agree with Jonny (and you) - we may not see a really wide variety of Gameboy games. I hope we at least get to see the rest of the Mega Man games show up. Those were seriously some of my favorite games on the system.

I suggest editing the title: add in a [Wii VC lives!]

Strider is a game I've heard about but never played. It's an action/platformer, isn't it? I smell an RGC for this one.

It is disappointing to get SMB on the VC... couldn't they at least have put up Super Mario Bros. Deluxe?? I would have bought that. I don't think we should be worried for more GB games, they're gonna be spaced out though.

Got it. Shenanigans on Nintendo.

Ha, I was wondering if we'd get Super Mario Bros. Deluxe or not. Seems kind of unlikely, which is a shame. Man that cartridge held a LOT of content. I still have my original cartridge, actually!

By the way, did you say you've already updated your Ambassador Super Mario Bros. Virtual Console game? How'd you do it? I can't seem to find it on the eShop...?

@GameDadGrant

If it's like other updates, you have to check your list of currently downloaded titles and it'll say "update" or something next to it. Kind of clunky and I don't know why they don't use the update button since it's right there...

Yep, check your download history Grant. A ton of other titles, including eShop games, have updates available too. No idea what for, though.

Genesis version of Strider???? ZOMG!!!

*happy dance*

I've been missing this game from my Genesis collection. I rented it several times as a kid, but never purchased it - much to my regret.

Hulu Plus is now available for Wii. Anyone have experience with it? Any huge differences with Canada vs. US programming?

They should have released Super Mario Bros. Deluxe. Though knowing Nintendo they might release it a few years into the 3DS' lifetime. Or perhaps even as a retail release, like with Super Mario All-Stars.

Hulu isn't available to Canadians, though. Unless you use one of those proxy services so that Hulu or Netflix thinks you're from the States.
