This is a kind of strange announcement, since Super Monkey Ball 1 and 2 are generally considered much better games than Banana Blitz was. I'd hope that this leads to more new Super Monkey Ball in the near future but who knows?
Instead of 3 awesome mini-games (or 9 really good mini-games as of SMB2), it has 50 borderline unplayable ones. Okay, that's a bit harsh, but only a handful of them are any fun at all and even those are like a Mario Party mini-game at best. Banana Blitz made me worried the Wii's motion controls were just broken because of how unpleasant so many of its features were. I think I played Monkey Golf, Monkey Pool and Monkey Target each more than the entirety of Banana Blitz.
The single-player was unremarkable too. I think the jump button made things too finicky and turned the game into an awkward platformer rather than a fun rolling-based challenge.
@GameDadGrant It was an early Wii game, and instead of the tight Monkey Ball controls from the old games it had very not so great, awkward tilt controls. And because of THAT the mazes were pretty basic, for the most part.
And then the mini-games. As bun says above, there were a LOT of them and pretty much none of them were great.
I wouldn't say it was BAD but it wasn't good either, just kind of so so, and it certainly wasn't as good as the first two games.
