Friends! Gamers! Matthew Taranto, Negative World's very own TriforceBun, has unleashed upon the waking world a new Kickstarter campaign for his Brawl in the Family webcomic. As many of you know, his comic is ending soon with the final 600th comic to be released on October 3rd, the same day Super Smash Bros. releases for the 3DS. In light of this it seems he's felt it's now time to give the world a chance to own Volume 2 and 3 of this comic in book form! Volume 1 released in 2013 and there's still a chance to obtain that as well.

As of writing this the Kickstarter has only been live since yesterday... and already it's at $36,880 of it's $56,000 goal! That's over 65%! INSANITY! The thing jumped up about $20,000 grand while I was at work today! I wish I made $20,000 dollars today!!!! Of course the money isn't going into his gold-cartridge-lined pocket but instead it is being converted through the pagey-wagey hard and soft book-making machine of gloriousness and coming back out as Brawl in the Family on paper!

Having known Matthew for a while now through being a member of this site, and seeing his ambitions grow from his comic through to not only his own game but doing additional awesomeness on other games,... it's just all very inspiring and I'm more than happy to support his endeavors. Now's your chance too!

The books definitely aren't cheap but their quality will more than make up for any costs incurred. If you're not able to support the books themselves but you still want to own a piece of Nintendo and Nintendo-fandom history you can pledge $25 dollars to get PDFs of all the books! Whoa! I believe I'll be getting the PDFs for Volume 2 and 3 with my pledge for those hardcover books but I think I'm going to have to throw another five bucks on there so I can have the convenience of the Volume 1 PDF. To have the books as well as the convenience to have my nephews read a few comics without getting grimy chocolate-covered kid fingerprints all over them is worth the bonus value.

So enough ranting and enough reading (well not yet). Head over to the Kickstarter which can be found here or by clicking the header image and support this Kickstarter. Not to jinx it but it's looking good for hitting it's goal at this pace... but your contributions even after can support stretch goals to make this even better as well as the fact that you probably can never buy these volumes again after this. So don't delay, act today! The Nintendo gamer inside yourself will thank you.

Lastly, a big thanks to Matthew for being a great member of this community, for being a big creative talent, and for giving us fans a chance to have these projects for our own. Good luck!

P.S. Keep an ear out for Matthew to be on an upcoming episode of the Negative World Podcast where hopefully Ninsage and I can discuss this whole operation and his other projects at greater depth!

Thanks for sharing this! Looks like I'm gonna have to pick up the full hardcover trilogy. Can't wait to have these.

Hey, Fink! Thank you very much for that lovely introduction! I was actually considering making a thread somewhat like this at some point tomorrow, but I think you've got me beat in terms of timing, and how fancy the original post is.

Interestingly enough, Brawl in the Family will be ending a month from this very day. I may actually use this thread to post the last few comics as well once they go up on the site. It's a pretty bittersweet time...

...but I sure am pleased with the Kickstarter results so far. The prospect of these books all becoming a reality is looking good!

P...D....F...... P.......D.......F.....

@TriforceBun

You're welcome. I just love the aesthetic of the comic and wanted to just get the word out as soon as possible. Perhaps coming from your mouth would have been very nice but all I did was save your breath and words for the inevitable 'Kickstarter Success" posts and the "BitF is Complete" thread I'm sure we should hopefully have to share our favorite memories.

@DrFinkelstein
It's not the money thing, it's the fact I can never donate to any Kickstarter no matter how much I want to.

Some Australian thing? Do explain please.

I can't seem to get Paypal working with it. I've tried several times to no avail. And I don't use Amazon for anything

Paypal and Kickstarter are, like, rivals or something. But many KSes add a Paypal option once the goal has been reached (otherwise, it's risky because the Paypal option could end up keeping the KS from reaching its goal since it's not added to the "official" tally). I definitely plan on making a Paypal option myself if the goal is hit.

I backed it to get the digital trilogy. This is the first comic I've been reading regularly since Calvin & Hobbes, so this was a no brainer for me. Thanks for all the laughs, Bun!

Awesome! May back on Friday, once I get paid, to see if I can nab all three books.

What an amazing amount of strips, I hope you hit that bottom line cost soon and start earning some Wario-level gold coinage to reward all of your hard work. :)

I wish I wasn't a broke college kid, I would love to help support the making of these books. I would love to have a physical collection of my favorite webcomic!

I like the covers.

If I came across these in a bookstore I'd buy the hell out all three volumes. Might get in on the action if the PayPal thing sorts itself out.

So I took a screen grab when I went to bed last night at 11:19 PM EST. As of right now, exactly 18 hours later, it's gained another $10,672. Go Matthew! I'm quite psyched for him!

That's more than 1% an hour since last night. Amazing outcome so far. I'm excited to hear about these stretch goals.

@TriforceBun

In two days! Congrats, TBun!

If Level 4 got hit, would we see that in the digital tier as well?
