Nintendo has announced release dates and prices for next month's round of Virtual Console games, including the launch of the Game Boy Advance on the Wii U.

Nintendo of America said:
April 3:
Advance Wars (Wii U, $7.99)
: Command air, ground and naval forces in strategic turn-based battles to drive back the vibrant armies of several scheming generals. Order troops carefully, then watch as tanks obliterate enemies and jets go head-to-head in midair dogfights. Can you fend off an army of elite strategists? It’s your move.
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga (Wii U, $7.99): Leap and level up as Mario and Luigi simultaneously in their first role-playing adventure as a team of Bros. When an evil witch replaces Princess Peach’s voice with explosives, the Bros. must venture beyond the Mushroom Kingdom to save her. Control each bro separately or together, then team up to unleash Bros. Attacks on Fawful’s fan-favorite face.
Metroid Fusion (Wii U, $7.99): Your mission: Eradicate the X parasites and the mutants they infect. Power up with the Fusion Suit to annihilate your enemies in this action-packed side-scroller set on an isolated research station. Along the way, you’ll find game-changing items like the Space Jump as you lose yourself in the blissful solitude of this eerily engrossing adventure.

April 10:
Kirby & The Amazing Mirror (Wii U, $6.99)
: When the going gets tough, Kirby gets cloning. Call in colorful clone reinforcements to aid Kirby in blasting, bashing and smashing his foes. With a new menace at his side, Dark Meta Knight is corrupting the sprawling, mazelike Mirror Kingdom. Join the famous pink puffball on an adventure to save the land in this classic platformer.
WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$! (Wii U, $6.99): Get ready for video games done Wario-style. In the game that started the WarioWare, Inc. empire, Wario has a plan to get rich quick. Skate, jump, scare and shoot your way through more than 200 frantic, rapid-fire microgames of every type, from retro classics to sports games to sci-fi shooters that anyone can pick up and play.

April 17
Super Mario Bros. 3 (Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, $4.99)
: Jump, swim and fly through one of the greatest and most beloved Super Mario Bros. games of all time. In this timeless NES classic, you’ll battle through over 70 baddie-infested courses and face off against the infamous Koopalings. Bowser and the Koopalings are causing chaos yet again, but this time, they’re going beyond the Mushroom Kingdom and into seven neighboring worlds. Lucky for the brothers, they have more power-ups than ever before. Fly above the action with the Super Leaf, swim faster as Frog Mario or turn into stone and drop onto enemies as Tanooki Mario. You can even choose your path on the map to reach the end of the World. There, you’ll have to pass massive Airships filled with cannons and fire traps to reach a showdown with one of the Koopalings.
F-Zero: Maximum Velocity (Wii U, $6.99): Get your adrenaline pumping and race plasma-powered machines till your knuckles turn white. Boost down some of the most dangerous tracks in the universe and strive for victory at all costs, even if it means ramming your opponents off the road. Revel in your accomplishments and climb the Grand Prix standings to unlock tracks and vehicles.
Golden Sun (Wii U, $7.99): Marvel at your own awesome power while protecting the world as it crumbles around you. Wield mighty weapons and use your mind to bend reality with magical Psynergy in the premiere installment of this epic RPG series. To aid you on your quest, seek out the omnipotent creatures known as Djinn – but beware: You must defeat them to harness their power.

April 24
Yoshi’s Island: Super Mario Advance 3 (Wii U, $7.99)
: Yoshi is back, baby, and he’s ready to romp through a crayon-colored world where enemies are everywhere. Prepare to flutter jump and toss eggs to protect young Mario from the evil Magikoopa, Kamek. To save the day, Yoshi and his pals will have to morph into vehicles and even EAT their enemies to turn them into eggs. Umm … yum?

Nice to see. Maybe this stuff will give Retro Game Club the burst of energy it needs. Mustache will really like Golden Sun methinks.

Yoshi's Island GBA coming out may be the death knell of my hopes of the original coming to VC. Fuck it, I'm emulating.

Nice to see these. Just wish I had a better understanding why the GBA games aren't on the 3ds as well. And what's with the GBA version of Yoshi's Island?

I think people will like Golden Sun as long as they know it's part one of essentially a two part game.

@Jargon

Yeah, the Yoshi's Island GBA port wasn't bad, but it butchered the audio (as did most GBA ports). The added levels are nice though...so I'll likely grab it up. Golden Sun too (still have my original cart, but it'll be nice to have it digitally). I've also never played Advance Wars, so I'll get that too.

@PogueSquadron

Yeah, that lack of 3DS support is very unusual.

I wonder how Fusion will look on the big screen? I guess I could pull out my Game Boy Player and find out.

@ludist210 the resolution as well. What's the point here? It can't be some hardware or software thing. It's been emulated on PC for years.

It took them a whole year...

Wonder if the DS VC will be any quicker?

Golden Sun, Advance Wars and M&L are all good though. M&L Epic Centre perhaps??

@PogueSquadron

The likely culprit is the ownership of the Super FX technology. No Super FX games have been on the Virtual Console in any shape or form since its inception. That's my guess.

@Pokefreak911

I would be all over Mario & Luigi for Epic Center.

Couldn't they just pay off Argonaut or whoever owns the Super FX technology?

@PogueSquadron

Argonaut is defunct, so I'm not sure who they would have to pay the licensing fee to.

Advance Wars, yes plz.

Golden Sun as well. $8 seems a little excessive for a GBA game, though.

Might have to pick up Superstar Saga. It's been a long time, and I'm feeling nostalgic for Mario and Luigi's kooky Level Up dances. I wonder if Fawful and his Sandwiches of Doom are as amusing as I remember...

Nice, will get Advance Wars. Maybe even Golden Sun.

At first, I was really kinda baffled by Nintendo putting these games on Wii U before 3DS, but maybe what they're thinking is that these games are already available in handheld form. That's my best guess.

@missypissy Yeah, I was expecting $5.99 tops for GBA games.

@cooliocuneo

Well then you weren't paying enough attention! The higher-priced GBC games are $5.99.

@missypissy and @cooliocuneo

Given the majority of Super Nintendo games on Wii U are $7.99, I think that's a fair price.

I was actually expecting these to be $9, so they are less then what I was thinking. They're even using a bit of variable pricing like on 3DS and offering the "lessor" titles for $7 instead of $8.

Too bad multiplayer isn't supported, as Kirby and the Amazing Mirror isn't really worthwhile otherwise. They could probably even support two players on the Wii U pretty easily, just have one player use the GamePad screen and the second player could use the TV and a Pro controller.

I already have all these except for Golden Sun, where strangely I somehow ended up with Golden Sun 2. I never played it though since I knew it was a direct sequel and you could carry over game data. But, I don't know if I could do that with the Wii U version > GBA cartridge. Don't know how that works. I wonder what a cartridge sells for these days... and it might even go down after this version releases.

Wow. I seriously want every game.

I am all over that Metroid Fusion. I barely played it and I will very gladly right that wrong.

The others I have next to no exposure to but they seem like great games.

Hyped.

@Mop it up
Really? I thought Kirby and the Amazing Mirror was a surprisingly fun Metroidvania-ish experience when we got the 3DS Ambassador games. I haven't beaten it yet, but I thought it was one of the best games of the whole bunch. Multiplayer seems like it would have potential, though.
