Absolute's simulation game focusing on the less glorified segments relating to space exploration.
Where other space-based games have you flying around shooting things, Space Shuttle Project has you preparing the shuttle, taking off, doing your thing amongst the stars, and bringing it back down. Its much more involved than that though; you're timed in each segment, and when advancing to the next level, there are new missions (on top of your existing ones), more to do in each mission, and less time to do it. Simplistic in nature, but very addicting and challenging.
It starts with action, a sequence that has you fueling the shuttle, opening the hatch, and loading the Pilot (later you'll have to load more than just him, making multiple trips down in an elevator). Next is the takeoff, dropping the boosters, and entering outer space. This is reflex- and precision-based with you entering specific commands at certain times, somewhat similar
WarioWare Smooth Moves. If you don't hit A (or a direction) at a certain moment, you'll miss with a chance to repeat it instantly. While this may sound forgiving, your are limited, and not quite getting the grasp can cost you dearly, in a hurry.
Once you're in outer space, you enter into another action-based sequence, doing some sort of spacewalk. Using thrusters with your astronaut (and inertial properties similar to
Solar Jetman), move around to release a satellite, or perhaps rescue one in a later mission. Upon completion of that, your next mission has you reentering the atmosphere and landing. Somehow, this (even with the slight toasting upon reentry) is far less frustrating that putting it on an aircraft carrier in
Top Gun.
Complete with actual NASA digitized speech, and a password system to pick right up where you left off.
