Mindscape's turn-based strategy game for 1-4 players.
On the newly discovered Irata, a world of resources are ripe for the picking. Each of four nations has a claim to it, and none of the parties will back down without a fight. Claiming plots of land on a gride (after selecting one of eight different races, each with differing strengths and weaknesses), players began their life on the distant planet. Next up they'll purchase a M.U.L.E. (short for Multiple Use Labor Element, and they also happen to look like, well, mules!) Needing to produce energy, harvest food, and mine smithore, the placement of these territories is important. Specific areas will produce more of each resource, with bonuses for areas touching. Players need to be mindful of their actions, as well as the movements their opponents are making.
After each round, an auction is held for materials. Befitting the best supply and demand economics course, players compete with each other for several units of a product, filling the role of Seller or Buyer depending on a surplus or shortage (there is a store, too). If there is an abundance of a product, it will sell for much less. If there is a high desire for the product, and not much to go 'round, players race to spend the most money (tie goes to the player in the worst position as a means to level the playing field). If a player has a deficiency in a category heading into the next round, it can hinder their performance (ie: a lack of food will give you less time to make your move).
Random events can and will impact the game, from runaway M.U.L.E.'s to meteorites and many in between. Other chance events show up occasionally as well, such as a favorable cash reward should you successfully hunt the wampus. At the end of the game (length depending on which mode you play), the player with the most money is the ultimate victor.
