Tradewest's sequel to
R.C. Pro-Am.
Building exponentially in every direction, R.C. Pro-Am II gives you free reign to do as you please with your vehicle. With money earned from each race (via winnings and pickups around the track), you are taken to an R.C. Shop after each round where you can make changes to your car, such as a better engine, better tires, or weapons. You're also scored on a leaderboard against your opponents, getting points with each finish, and even bonus points for hitting the gas first at the start of the race. Every couple of rounds there are special events as well, such as a monster truck tug 'o war, and a fast fingers drag race. Bragging rights to the winners, of course.
If you are fortunate enough to collect RC PRO AM II in the square letter tokens scattered about the standard races, your car upgrades to a better model, noticeably faster with better cornering abilities. Fans of the old game will notice several differences to the 24 tracks on the circuit, most notably the differing driving surfaces, track configurations (including intersections), required lap totals (often more than just two laps), ramps, stacks of tires in some corners (usually in high speed situations to save you from crashing), the high number of powerups, and a mean-spirited biplane, actively dropping bombs on the racecourse.
As if the game couldn't get any better, the game also allows you to play with three other friends with the use of the NES Satellite or NES Four Score! Largely unknown among the general gaming population due to rarity and price.
