Nippon Ichi Software's extensive Disgaea-based franchise lands in part on the Wii as Phantom Brave: We Meet Again. While not a true Disgaea title, the gameplay is nearly the same; a grid-based strategy game with an added emphasis on unit management...but without the grid.
The main character is a 13 year-old girl named Marona who can communicate with phantoms. With her as always is Ash; he worked as a "Chroma" (think mercenary adventurer) for Marona's parents before they died. Ash himself is no longer living, but stuck somewhere between life and death. Thanks to Marona's abilities, she is able to communicate with him as he vows to protect her.
Marona has another ability, using her "Confine" skill to give a specific phantom's attributes (in addition to Ashe, you'll build up quite an army..) to non-living things, be it trees, plants, rocks, or something else. Each of those objects have attributes as well, so when they are fused, you get some interesting results (ie: rocks might have better defense, but their movement speed isn't as quick). Unfortunately, each phantom only has so many turns before they are unceremoniously ripped off the playing field. And the quest continues..
Very deep gameplay with plenty of statistical management and item allocation envelops this game; patience and a steady mind are suggested as it can be extremely frustrating at times. Probably not for the "casual" gamer or tiny children, but fans of RPGs and the like should definitely give it a look.
