62 stars in. Up to Throwback Galaxy. Yes, it's the Mario 64 Whomp's Fortress remake.
God, I loved almost every Galaxy in the game, can't pick my favorite. Starshine Beach, Melty Monster, Space Storm, and Chompworks are some awesome ones off the top of my head. They're all great though.
Favorite power up is EASILY Yoshi if it counts. If not, Rock Mario.
I cannot believe how much better it is than the original. I was honestly "wowed" with this game more than I was when I first played the original Galaxy. Not kidding. And the music is SO awesome.
EDIT: Oh, and by the way, there's more Galaxies in this game than in the first one. A lot more. Many with only one mission, but still. And I haven't done ANY of the hidden/comet stars and I will have exactly 70 by the time I beat the final boss. It was 60 in the last game.
Got it at midnight, played until 4:30... and only have had time for one star today so far (SOON TO CHANGE!) I have 20 stars so far, and my favorite power up is the cloud suit. I can't wait to see what they do with it, but I'VE been trying to break levels that it's in. Finding ways to skip entire platforming puzzles is fun, though I always go back and actually do the puzzles, lol.
Way too early to tell what my favorite Galaxy is... but if I had to choose one right now, it'd be whatever the first one where you ride Yoshi with the chili pepper power up is. EDIT: Hightail Falls.
EDIT: Oh yeah, and in Mario Galaxy, I got to 60 stars before I died. In this one, I've already died numerous times. I can't wait to see the advanced difficulty of later levels.
I am 20 stars in so far. My favorite thing about the game other than the level design and music is how your spaceship evolves with the more stars you gather. It adds a sense of progression that is pretty satisfying to me.
Beat the game. Blocking this out just in case, but I'm not really spoiling anything:
Once you beat the game, you unlock a Special World. You cannot see the last Galaxy in this world unless you have 120 stars. So, it's a great incentive to keep you going, because even if you dont know what the 120 reward is, you can at least get all the stars to see every level in the game.
I am 33 stars in now. This game is reallly amazing. I was never really hyped about the game when it was announced or until it got a 10 out of 10 because I knew what it would be. I loved galaxy so i figured this was more of that and I knew i was gonna buy it day one so there was no mystery about what this game will be. Now that I am playing it i learned that there was aloooottt of content in this game that i should have been hyped for. This game is simply amazing. I cannot put it down because I am constantly doing something new and I just want to keep going. 10/10 in my book. With this much care going into galaxy 2 I am really excited to see how zelda will turn out.
^ Yeah, the graphics in particular are impressive. Maybe it was because I was playing at night (and had a couple of drinks in me) but I didn't notice the "usual Wii stuff" in the presentation. Y'know, stuff like blurry textures, jaggies, etc. The look is just really, really clean. And even though I know it's not HD... if someone told me it was, I might believe him.
This is why I like Nintendo to do an actual sequel once in a while. It's cool to see new ideas but it's down right awesome to have them perfected. So far, Galaxy 2 is better than the first in every way possible. I also don't remember Galaxy being this good looking. I know it's was great looking but I find myself impressed at every turn in this game. I've yet to come across something and go "eh", it's all been really good. Very solid stuff. The music is fantastic as well. I like the map music in particular, just got to world 3 and it's beautiful. I already like this more than Galaxy so if it just gets better and better, I'm in for a treat. Had to force myself to quit playing last night and all I want to do today is play some more.
Got 75 stars, and all Comet Coins (of the Galaxies I have unlocked). I seriously have been playing a LOT since my first post ITT where I had 62 stars; those Comet Coins really add a lot of replay value, even if they're pretty easy to find for the most part.
Steadily working my way up to 120. Game is so much fun.
