Anyone else picking this up? It's like Kirby + Mario Kart + Katamari Damacy + uh... Fall Guys I guess!?

I played it for a little bit the night it came out! It's kinda fun. Not much to it, it's definitely a mini-game.

I always get these Kirby spinoffs on a rare sale and then never play them. So I shall do the same with this one.

I'm like a trained monkey!

I was hoping there would be a demo.

@J.K. Riki There are so few courses and such that a demo would basically be the whole game, lol. That is one issue that it has, very light on content. Explains the $15 price tag when Nintendo tends to go full price with most anything.

I'm hoping they will add some new stuff in the future but who knows.

@Zero

Fair. I didn't realize it was that short!

I get the feeling that this was originally planned to be a minigame in Kirby and the Forgotten Land, as Kirby games often have side games like this, and then they didn't have time to complete it when it came to crunch time so they held it back to release separately.

@Mop it up I've skipped most Kirby games the last several years, but I feel like this trend of taking what would have been minigames circa 1990-2010 and monetizing them into their own eShop games has been going on since at least the 3DS days. From what I've seen so far, Dream Buffet looks surprisingly light even for a Kirby spinoff, but to me it still seems bigger than what they'd pack into a mainline Kirby game anymore.

@nate38 Ah, in that case, for context, the previous eShop-exclusive Kirby games (Kirby Clash, Kirby Fighters, and Kirby's Blowout Blast) have all been expanded versions of minigames that appeared in Kirby Triple Deluxe and Kirby Planet Robobot for 3DS. Dream Buffet is the first eShop-exclusive Kirby game that isn't directly based on a previous minigame in a Kirby title, which is what makes me wonder if some version of it were originally planned for Forgotten Land. Who knows though.

This feels to me like more than a free mini-game for another game though. The content is spare compared to offerings from other developers but it still has multiple modes (race, collect, fight, etc.) and it a lot of items and different things like that.

@Zero Sure, just like how the other Kirby eShop titles were expanded over their original minigame forms as well.

I think you're on to something here. This seems very likely.
