I gotta admit, this was completely unexpected. And totally awesome. A cross-over with two Mario spin-offs? What is crazy Nintendo up to nowadays? ...besides being awesome. Seriously, check this out. Who could honestly have said they saw this coming?
Hilarious! I'm in. For sure. Too bad we gotta wait until next year, but hey. Gives us something to look forward to. That's something, right?
This looks good and funny. I do still kinda wish we'd get a traditional follow-up to The Thousand-Year Door, but this should be fresh enough to be a fun time with the plumbers. Probably my favorite "new" game announced during the Event.
I still need to finished Mario & Luigi: Dream Team! I'm enjoying it, but I keep getting distracted by other games. I'm looking at you Splatoon...
This was a welcome announcement and I think combining these two funny role-playing series could lead to some great things. That said, I still want to see a Wario & Waluigi game because I think that could potentially be the coolest thing ever.
The canon nerd in me was really excited for this game solely for the fact that this goes a long way towards legitimizing the Paper Mario games as canon to the rest of the Mario series. I know. I apologize.
The best part of this game is the subtitle. Paper Jam!
Mario & Luigi is one of those series I enjoyed but am content with never playing again without some major shakeup. And while the crossover with Paper Mario is novel, it doesn't quite reach major shakeup status for me.
I enjoyed both of these previous games more than most... but there is something about the 2 graphical sytles together that really turns me off. I think the clean, neat lines of Sticker Star really shows up how grainy and lo-rez the Dream Team stuff is. But hey, these are my fave RPGs so I'll be be there. This announcement just didn't excite me, probably because it's a blatent recycling of old assets. But why shouldn't they? Shut up, Conzo.
I'm actually really looking forward to this one, mostly just to see how it turns out. I love the concept. But I hope they have the right team on this. While the Mario & Luigi games have been consistently great, the Paper Mario series (sub-series?) has had a rockier road.
I haven't played a Paper Mario game since The Thousand Year Door, but this crazy cross-over could draw me back in. There are too many other 3DS games I haven't gotten around to getting yet, though. I haven't even bought Link Between Worlds!
This should be great, but they need to lay off on the needless padding and handholding from Dream Team. Also, it's just weird seeing two Marios and one Luigi. Paper Luigi better play a big role that is being kept under wraps for now...
This was my favorite announcement of the event. I have to admit that both of the 3DS entries in these series didn't particularly impress me, but I love both the Paper Mario games AND the Mario & Luigi games, and mashing them together is super exciting. And of the two I've always been a bigger fan of M&L, so knowing that Alphadream is the developer is great too. Can't wait! It looks awesome.
Not gonna lie, I secretly predicted that we'd get a "Paper Mario & Luigi" game at E3 this year. I was picturing Paper Mario visuals with the gameplay of Mario & Luigi rather than this strange hybrid. Still not a fan of the 3DS M&L art style, and this takes the weirdness of it even further.
Combining both series seems like the most logical step at this point, though.
(And Mustache is right, this should be a [Game] discussion thread!)
My love of a good pun demands that I pick up this game, I am playing through Zelda right now and then I am going to jump into Dream Team which will likely only fuel my need to pick this up. What is the general consensus on Sticker Star? The game kinda fell off my rader before it released.
I think the general consensus is that it's a weak entry in the series at best. I played through it and there was some fun to be had, but it definitely was not all I'd hoped when the game was first announced.
