Welcome to the discussion thread for Spider-troid 2! (aka Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions for the DS)
Check our brief discussion thread of Spider-troid 1! (aka Spider-Man: Web of Shadows for the DS)

So yeah, picked up Shattered Dimensions during Gamestop's B2G1 used games sale and played through it this weekend. It feels very much like a rushed sequel to Web of Shadows, but it does have a few advantages. The further lack of enemy variety is a shame, but there aren't any cheap foes either, and I thought the final boss of Shattered Dimensions was easily the best fight of the two games. Also, the Spider-Run ability made for some cool, snappy puzzles very reminiscent of Metroid (okay, it was basically a rip-off, but it was a pretty good rip-off). Also, there seem to be a lot of extra modes in Shattered Dimensions, including a ludicrously difficult challenge mode that requires mastery of Spidey's cool moves (plus some serious memorization...)

On the other hand, the three different Spider-Men just made the game world feel splintered and smaller, and there's basically no differences between them (especially once they're upgraded and acquire each others' abilities). The switching between Regular Spidey and Symbiote Spidey in Web of Shadows was much better. Speaking of which, why was Symbiote Spidey dropped for Shattered Dimensions? He was in the console version, and they could have straight up pasted him into the new game. Also, that dimension-switching minigame? Pretty dumb, but thankfully short and easy. And Shattered Dimensions just overall seems less polished than its predecessor.

So...anyone other than Anand give this game a try? These two Spider-troid games are pretty good, honest! And I'm very willing to swap one or both...

As much as a Spider-Man fan as I am (and a DS fan of course) I never picked up any of them for the handheld. Can't really explain why, but I just never did. Maybe I'll be able to get around to that eventually, since they seem to be pretty good overall.
