NES Remix 2 on the Wii U
8.04/10 from 9 user ratings

Welcome to the official discussion thread for NES Remix 2 on the Wii U!

To start, please add this game to your log, add it to your collection (if applicable), and (when you are ready) rate it using the link above!

NES Remix 2 just released today and as many would agree, with a far better selection of games than the first game. On top of that, Miiverse implementation has been bumped up a notch with more features such as replays (only in-game) and actually listing which levels a post has been made on! Owners of both games can also participate in Championship Mode complete with leaderboards (though very bare in features). Last but not least, Super Luigi Bros. which is a mirrored port of Super Mario Bros. featuring Luigi is included with the game and also has Luigi's jumping mechanics. Come on in and discuss this sequel!

Can you believe this game wasn't added till I did so earlier today?

Can't say I'm surprised but then what else is there on the Wii U?

Fun game so far! Though I suppose if someone didn't enjoy the first, then this one isn't really for them... unless if the selection of games is what held them back. At least this one has a couple more features going for it. I just don't understand what Nintendo's problem is with leaderboards. It seems to be such a mess for Championship Mode. I think it's mixing together a bunch of pre-set scores with online ones so you don't know who has what score. Your friends are highlighted if they appear on it but then there's also no way to sort by friends or worldwide or anything. Stop it Nintendo! Make sense for once!

Downloading now.

Kind of wish they had just made a single NES Remix with only the good games in it, but hey, they did what they did.

Wonder when SNES Remix will hit...

I'm one of the people who was slightly disappointed with the first NES Remix. The game selection was mostly meh.

This game, however, oh man. I just rainbow starred all the Super Mario Bros. 2 challenges on my first try, and it felt glorious. I'm loving this game.

The only game that I'm not a huge fan of in here is Wario's Woods. The rest are greats.

I got addicted to Championship mode for a bit, tonight. I'm gonna enjoy my 2nd place ranking while I can!

Jargon would love this: the last game, and the one that pays off the most, is Dr Mario!

Strongly considering this, as someone who likes score-based arcadey action, NEStolgia, and wasn't thrilled with the selection on the first game. Really, the only thing holding me back is that it's coming out in a busy season, with Mario Golf and Kirby (and soon Mario Kart) just around the corner.

They did! It's called NES Remix 2!

(that joke would work better if I didn't think Super Mario Bros and The Legend of Zelda were the best in their series, but whatever)

@TriforceBun I said a single one! As in, not two! I almost feel like they tricked me into buying the first one. Not that I didn't enjoy it, but still. Should have just been one game.

@Guillaume

Oh man, I was already going to buy this, but now I think I'll have to get it immediately.

Why do people not like Wario's Woods? That game is great! Might be a bit confusing to get the controls down at first but once you do, it's a very fun puzzle game.

AHHHH! They actually altered some of the music in the Remix levels! A Mario snow level has such kickass music. I'm just sitting here listening instead of getting a good score.

Yeah, this game is much better than Remix one. I also rainbow starred all the SMB 2 stages.

Not a fan of Wario's Woods. Too chaotic for my tastes.

Loved the Zelda II challenges, especially the boss battles. I got some pretty stellar times...

Also, I like how they include the name of the stage when you post to Miiverse now. Too bad there are no leaderboards.

GROAN, buying tonight. I don't know how I let a few days go by. FOOLISH.

@VofEscaflowne To be honest there are very few things falling from the sky puzzle games that I like and most the ones that I like are more recent and "evolved" beyond those early ones.

I read through a bunch of reviews at Metacritic, surprisingly alot of complaints were, 'that due to the reviewers being so familiar with the better games on this sequel, those stages were not as challenging'! Seriously, many complained about that. I'm glad thats not a commonly shared complaint. Though, in a way, I see where they are coming from. I guess in a way it would be a bummer to perfect a good portion of the challenges the first time through.

The Wario Woods stages and no leaderboards were mainly the other complaints. Many reviews state that there are actually less stages in NESRemix 2, but the inclusion of Championship mode(if you own both remixes) plus the Super Luigi Bros. game helps make up for there being less stages.

Hell, just getting the Luigi Bros game should be enough to shut most complainer's mouths. I mean, Nintendo(if they wanted), could have sold the game separately for $4.99. Eventually, I will download remix2, I've only played about halfway through the first remix, which really didn't take too much time, though I still need to 'rainbow' some of the stages. I'm glad to see mostly positive comments here.

I'm enjoying it. I think it took me like 10 minutes to rainbow all the Punch Out stages. I still remember practically everything from that game, so I was hoping the challenges would be at least a little harder.

I think what I would prefer from these games, since many of us are so familiar with the games included, is that it focused more on the "remix" portion of the title and included a ton more crossovers between its classic titles. These are the ones that are fun and that I look forward to playing. Taking one game's mechanics and introducing them to another title is just fun and feels fresh.

@VofEscaflowne

Agreed!

But it was very fun and awesome to play some of my favorite childhood games and try to move as quickly as possible, which is something I never did as a kid!

I really think they should've included an online leaderboard, at least amongst your friends. I have no idea if the times I post are good or not, and I really have nothing to compare them too other than the random Miiverse times I see.

Opportunity: missed.

Well played, Nintendo.

HAHA! I remember the hilarity behind that.
