Hey all, it's that time of the year again! I need your help to put together our GOTY nominations! Here are some things to remember:

1. Even if someone else already nominated a game, nominate it again! It helps me put the final shortlists together to know what stuff is the most popular.
2. Nominate as many games as you want for a category! Just try to keep it stuff that you personally actually care about or really think deserves to make the list, so the lists don't get flooded.
3. If you don't participate in the nominations, you don't get to complain about the final voting lists!

If you forget for all was released in 2021 check below, but my lists are not exhausive, so they are probably missing some key stuff, especially in the eShop categories. But remember, these are just my lists, even if you see a game in my list (or anyone else's), list it again in your nominations!

Tetris Effect is definitely a good nomination for best audio, as well as Monster Hunter which is always pretty strong there.

Really the only Switch game I played this year was Metroid Dread, which was a delight.

Retail Games: Mario Golf Super Rush. Yeah, I'm goin' there! It's a spunky, novel little game, especially after the updates.

Indie Games:

Rogue Heroes: Ruins of Tassos - It's a roguelike Zeldalike! And it's good! C'mon, people!

Binding of Isaac: Repentance - DLC, but huuuuge (and another Roguelike Zeldalike)

There are also a bunch of acclaimed indies which I haven't yet played, like Chicory, Death's Door, DUSK, that Shovel Knight puzzler, and The House in Fata Morgana (#1 Metacritic of all time, or something?!). And probably a hundred more that I can't remember.

Honorable mention to Boomerang Fu, which came out last year. Really fun multiplayer!

What? This has been the best year for me since 2017 and I still have stuff to go back to including the new Ace Attorney, Monster Hunter Stories, and the Famicom Detective Club games.

Three games I haven't seen mentioned yet are:
Monster Hunter Stories 2
Plants vs Zombies: Battle for Neighborville
Knockout City
But if they haven't been mentioned yet, that probably means they have no chance.

Otherwise, everything else people have mentioned looks good to me.

Ahh, maybe I'm just not into the big games that came out this year? Here's my top 10, for reference:

1. Metroid Dread (Great, but I wish it wasn't as linear. The sequence breaks I tried were not very fun)
2. No More Heroes 3 (Didn't live up to expectations)
3. Warioware: Get it Together (Everything I wanted it to be)
4. New Pokemon Snap (Pretty good, but underwhelming and repetitive)
5. Mario Party Super Stars (I really like it, but I win all the minigames, so my family and friends refuse to play it with me)
6. Resident Evil Village (Didn't have time to finish. Killed the dommy mommy. It was pretty good)
7. Bowser's Fury (I liked it well enough)
8. Nier Replicant (Couldn't get through the boring first run to make it to the interesting bits. Will return to it some day)
9. Jackbox 8 (No complaints)
10. Mario Golf Super Rush (A decent golf game that felt unfinished at release. Did not return after the devs decided to finish making it)

So it's a year of games that kind of underwhelmed me. Halo Infinite was a complete bust for me, Super Monkey Ball was a massive letdown, and Pikmin Bloom fizzled out pretty quickly. Still have to get around to Psychonauts 2 and Neo TWEWY.

@Mop it up You still have to nominate what you want to see even if someone else already nominated it, because I make the final lists based on how many nominations the games get! *coughs* As stated multiple times in the original post.

@Zero Rise and Tetris Effect are just such monsters in terms of audio. IDK what can compete. I mean listen to this stuff:





And these are fairly early tracks as well. The bar for audio in games is fucking sky high this year.
