Round Three begins and the fight is ever growing more desperate for each Smash Character. All the jokers are out and now we've got a lineup of the best of the best… but who will be the best?
The Hammer Bracket:
Cloud was a newcomer who attracted a lot of attention. However it was Peach's delicate yet strong sense of will that allowed her over double the votes and a movement forward in this bracket. Pac-Man was another newcomer who attracted a lot of attention, however his match versus Kirby was much closer. Despite this, the yellow round-ball beat out the pink puffball! Two heroes starting with L found themselves against each other next. However at a ratio of 4:1, Link sliced Lucas down to his tiny little size. When Wario went up against Rosalina and her Luma, she was left in the stardust… or starfarts… and lost heavily against Wario, who took the most votes this round compared to their opponent.
The Dragoon Bracket:
Most of the matches here were definitive but there was one which was not… Ike and King Dedede… they tossed blows back and forth ending up at an even eight votes. Instead of in the past where I hounded non-voters for their votes and figured out things that way, this being a Super Smash Bros. bracket I am able to settle this a bit differently… with an epic brawl! I booted up my copy of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, set each character to 9, and stuck them in Wuhu Island Omega Version… without items, they duked it out… so who won? That character moves forward in this bracket! Watch the epic battle below!
With that, we find King moving forward. Sure it came down to a Sudden Death, but that's fitting for how close these two polled. Next there was some real love for Sheik but Mr. Game & Watch won people over with his quirks. Sonic came in hot and came in fast but somewhat surprisingly, Donkey Kong jungle-beat the competition at a little over double the votes. Finally it was a somewhat close race with some oldies. The Ice-Climbers were up against old favorite, Captain Falcon. The Ice-Climbers made the mistake of asking Mr. Falcon to show them his moves… and so he did… and so out they went.
The Lip's Stick Bracket:
Starting the Lip's Stick bracket was Pikachu electrifying the competition with a strong victory over Marth. Another Fire Emblem character bites the dust. Next, Ganondorf, the King of Evil, showed his dominance over Snake with another definitive win. In the third matchup, folks had a lot of love for Bowser and had a hard time voting against him. Despite those urges, Villager took a strong and commanding win over the rough lizard. Finally, Little Mac punched out another competitor by taking out Robin. Another Fire Emblem character bids the dust.
The Smash Ball Bracket:
Zero Suit Samus may be out of the competition but her fully-armored alternate is not. Up against Toon Link, Samus showed that a missile to the face was harsher than a boomerang to the butt. In one of the most definite wins this whole bracket, Duck Hunt finally took out Mii Fighter whose time was probably up a long time ago. Young Link was yet another Link clone, or at least kind-of-clone, who didn't make it out of this set. R.O.B., the only character based on actual Nintendo hardware, knocked him back to Termina. Finally, in yet another definitive win, Mega Man blasted Fox off his game and sent him back to his own galaxy. Mega Man has some real fight in him!
Glad you made it through the overview. (I hope you made it through!) This is the final round where we will likely see eight match ups at once. We'll probably split off from this point on. We'll see.
Peach vs. Pac-Man Link vs. Wario King Dedede vs. Mr. Game & Watch Donkey Kong vs. Captain Falcon
Pikachu vs. Ganondorf Villager vs. Little Mac Samus Aran vs. Duck Hunt R.O.B. vs. Mega Man
Vote for the character that you think should win the matchup. Please vote on every matchup. Please cast your votes in the following format, bolding the character that you choose to advance:
Meta Knight vs. Falco Bayonetta vs. Toon Link
Polls are open until Wednesday, October 5th, 2016 at 11:59 PM EST. Who will enter this fray!?
Peach vs. Pac-Man Link vs. Wario King Dedede vs. Mr. Game & Watch Donkey Kong vs. Captain Falcon
Pikachu vs. Ganondorf Villager vs. Little Mac Samus Aran vs. Duck Hunt R.O.B. vs. Mega Man
Peach vs. Pac-Man Easy as pie. Pac-Man is way more fun to play as and personally I'm more nostalgic for him.
Link vs. Wario Truly a good matchup, it's still pretty easy to vote with our favorite swordsman.
King Dedede vs. Mr. Game & Watch Both are pretty fun characters but Smash Bros. is what got me to love King Dedede. He's had a good fight to get here and deserves the support.
Donkey Kong vs. Captain Falcon Just a personal preference; Captain Falcon is a bit quicker and more fun to play as.
Pikachu vs. Ganondorf Surprised myself here but the more I think about Pikachu, the more I like him in Smash.
Villager vs. Little Mac Easy. Both a really fun but my love for Villager is strong! Finally the Animal Crossing series has been getting proper representation!
Samus Aran vs. Duck Hunt Samus is fun and all, but Duck Hunt is ridiculously cool and tricky with a good player. I'd say it easily takes more skill to manage this duo than Samus.
R.O.B. vs. Mega Man Two robotic characters… but one takes the powers of his enemies...
Peach vs. Pac-Man Oh geez. My Melee fave or the surprisingly playful Pac-Man? Since this is about the best SSB character ever, I suppose I should go with the one that's been a main for me in one of the games. Sorry Pac!
Link vs. Wario These are about Smash characters, not Nintendo characters. I like Link in Smash, but Wario's just way too fun to play as.
King Dedede vs. Mr. Game & Watch Dedede is a fun character in general, but as far as a Smash Bros fighter goes, G&W is delightfully quirky and one of my faves in Brawl and 4.
Donkey Kong vs. Captain Falcon DK is a bit underrated, even if I still think he needs a barrel move.
Pikachu vs. Ganondorf This is hard. While I have fun with Ganondorf and am kinda sick of Pokemon, G-dorf has a lot more potential to be someone more memorable. And Pikachu's handled about as well as he could be, and is a good choice for Smash altogether. It's unusual, but I'm voting for Pokemon over Zelda in this case.
Villager vs. Little Mac Two great newcomers. I guess I'll have to give the nod to Mac in this case, almost solely because I enjoy the Punch-Out series more than Animal Crossing. But it's kind of a toss-up.
Samus Aran vs. Duck Hunt Samus is done pretty well but I've never liked playing as her much. Duck Hunt is a character I hope to see in every Smash from this point on, very clever.
R.O.B. vs. Mega Man Now that Ness is out, I'm banking on Mega Man to go all the way. Go, Mega Man!
After various comments, I've gotta ask,... why aren't you actually voting? It's amazing to me that you feel Samus should win, yet won't vote for her. Before you go and reply with a single vote, you need to vote per OP rules to do so.
Peach vs. Pac-Man (Cuz he's better) Link vs. Wario (Cuz he's better) King Dedede vs. Mr. Game & Watch (Cuz he's less annoying) Donkey Kong vs. Captain Falcon (He's annoying to play against but I prefer using him I suppose)
Pikachu vs. Ganondorf (I'm not too big a fan of either of these) Villager vs. Little Mac (God, these two are also super annoying...but I can play Little Mac) Samus Aran vs. Duck Hunt (I like to play as Duck Hunt but this character is pure annoyance and camp, while Samus is just my GIRL) R.O.B. vs. Mega Man (I love both of these but I'm gonna have to go for my boy Mega Man)
