I'm a greedy gamer..... On the VC I finally got my Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, my Super Punch Out..and even FFIII but there is one game that is still missing:
KABoooom baby!!!All signs point that this game has the same chances of landing on the VC as Xenoblade has in landing on the shores of North America. Yes I went there.
EDIT: Ok....Xeno has landed... where's our V'ball game? Maybe for Wii U???? Anyways - here is the game in a nutshell: You pick one of 4 teams that you can choose from - all with different speeds and abilities so pick one that fits your style. After that, you can play singles or doubles in a practice, American Circuit, or World Cup Tournament. For those of you who have never seen this game, here is a vid to give you an idea.
Controls are simple and tight. One button hits and the other jumps. While in the air, you can hammer on the jump button to give you more defense power for a great block, or to wind yourself up (then press the hit button) to Super Spike the ball into the bowels of the earth while knocking your opponent onto his ass. Sounds like fun right? Yes...Yes it is.
For a such a simple sport, this game really had great challenge, great options (you could change from normal point to rally point, toggle music on and off, change the number of sets you play, and pick the beach you want to play on), nice graphics and addictive gameplay. Add on tight controls and you have yourself a classic.
This game is widely considered THE NES game for my family (cousins included)... I gave this game to my older cousin as a wedding present back in '98 (it was hard to find at the time ) and my younger cousins bought themselves an NES along with this game (after growing up with a SNES as their first system) when they hit college but they were missing something. They asked me to find this for them:
Oh that's riiight.... this game is a 4 player game man!! You can play 1 vs 2 or 2 vs 2 and it rocks. The only game that has come close to Console 4 player goodness is Goldeneye for N64.
You can see how this would be a perfect fit for the VC.
Games don't have to have the fancy graphics or crisp clear sound to be fun. If you had gameplay and control in spades (which this one does) then as long as you can see and hear what you are doing, it's all gravy from there.
Great game - play it on ROM if you must... I know that right now, it's my only option.
