Welcome to Hidden Nindies, a new feature where we put the spotlight on some of the lesser known indie games on current Nintendo platforms! We don’t have a strict line drawn for determining which games meet this criteria, but the spirit of the feature is to both expose Nintendo gamers to neat games that they may not have heard much about and to help indie game developers gain some attention for the quality games that they have built which may have fallen a bit under the radar on the Nintendo platforms (even if they were more successful elsewhere.) I’m going to go out on a limb here and assume that most of the people reading this review fall into one of two groups: those who specifically searched for a Gotta Protectors review (there are only a handful of reviews out there), and those who have never even heard of Gotta Protectors. Admittedly, I was in the latter camp for a long time after Gotta Protectors released, but boy am I glad that I discovered this overlooked mid-2016 eShop game and gave it a shot. Breaking news! Game developers Image & Form and Zoink have come together for a joint venture known as Thunderful, which will own both companies as a single entity.Sounds like we still may hear the names Image & Form as well as Zoink but you can read below for the full press release. Wow, this was quite the year! While I think the past couple years may have had more cream-of-the-crop/outstanding games at the top, I can't remember a year with this many games that were worth playing. Some years it is difficult to come up with a full list of 10 games that I really enjoyed, whereas for 2017 I could easily go 20-deep with games I feel strongly about. I actually read the news on the Switch news service for once and it had a list of the top 20 most played games on Switch since launch. The ranking is based on "the cumulative number of hours that North American players have spent in-game"... (more)
