I've always said that I hated them. And I kind of do. But sometimes, they're tolerable, and it took playing the Dead Space 3 demo to finally realize why. No, not because they were tolerable in Dead Space 3. Because they were AWFUL. In a way that was AWFULLY reminiscent of the climbing while stuff is falling apart sequences in Uncharted. Beyond the superficial similarities, both usages of QTE were, in the service of some form of realism, slooooooow. Inexorable, endless... molasses-y. Just curious as to what you guys think. It seems like a truly bizarre decision to release both simultaneously. If both systems had a similar install base, the Wii U version would annihilate the 3DS version in Western territories. But the 3DS has been around for much longer, so I'm not so sure how it'll pan out. What I AM sure of is that releasing the 3DS version last Christmas would've been a much better move. Fans would have been more likely to spring for the 'upgrade'... (more)

I'm sure that everyone here has conducted GamePad range experiments of their own, particularly the 'play-from-bed' test. I can happily report that my bedroom reception, one floor up from the Wii U, is pretty much perfect! (Wii Chatters beware!) Now I just need more off-TV games... (also, I need to keep praying to Lord Iwata for free updated Wii U-native VC ports) (more)
