But Nintendo gave it Gamecube/Wii/Wii U-level support? A console consisting entirely of Nintendo exclusives, at the rate of 7-9 per year, with the occasional VC release and eShop original?.. (more)

It’s that time of year again! Just like every other year, 2013 was a pretty fantastic year for gaming. I’m curious as to what you all enjoyed the most this year... (more)

I know, I know. They're fun. They entice you to walk around with your 3DS. They're 'social'. Some the newer games actually have pretty fun mechanics... (more)

As the seventh console generation comes to a close, I've been looking back over all the "Best Games of the Generation" lists to see if there are any important games that I just never played. I think, for the most part, I'm pretty good. The only blemishes on my record are that I never played Heavy Rain and Dark Souls. Of course, I haven't played EVERYTHING; I know that the GTA and Elder Scrolls games are really great, but they just don't appeal much to me... (more)

I love Miiverse. I think Nintendo really nailed it when they included this online community feature on day 1 of Wii U's launch. I regularly post on Miiverse and have really come to appreciate the recent addition of tags to post stuff like impressions, questions for other users, brag about your accomplishments, and more! (There can even be game-specific tags like Pikmin 3's creature photography). The fact you can easily attach screenshots is pretty awesome, and it's easier than ever to post since you can use a USB keyboard on the Wii U or access the web browser version on your computer. I've also been able to interact directly with game developers themselves! In short, I've found Miiverse truly has enhanced my game playing experience... (more)

They sell fairly well, but among us gamers, it's almost like they (along with stuff like Wii Party) don't even exist. Like, to the point where they aren't even MENTIONED as part of holiday lineups. I still haven't picked one of these Olympic games up, but I'm always intrigued by the variety of novel control schemes, and rentals/demos have always been pretty fun (and often physically exhausting). I think that it might finally be time to jump in. It's always nice to have more party games... (more)

This is an idea that I've seen the gaming media push quite a bit recently. That next-gen could very well be won or lost depending on indie support, since true exclusives are fewer and farther between. This type of discussion usually revolves around Sony, since they seem to be expending quite a bit of energy to sign all of the promising indie games that they can. I dunno. Anything's possible, I guess. Minecraft was an indie game... (more)

Well, not really. But after getting absorbed into TVTropes.org for hours and coming across the apparent rarity of Infinite Space, I got all excited and looked up the current price of an unopened copy (which, of course, I have!). Two-hundred bones! Then I went to the archives to make sure that the game was still unwrapped, and... it's a goddamned gutted copy from Gamestop. Still brand-new. Just... kind of soiled. Who the hell knows how much I can get for it now? Freaking Gamestop. WHY!.. (more)

Relative to what, you ask? Good question! Rate your CURRENT level of gaming fandom, compared to your lifetime MAXIMUM level of gaming fandom. So, if you're enjoying games more than you ever have, you would say 10. On the other hand, if you used to loooove games, but barely play them anymore... maybe a 1 or 2?.. (more)

I am, of course, referring to the upcoming PS3 game Beyond: Two Souls from Quantic Dream (Heavy Rain, Indigo Prophecy) which stars Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe. And by stars I do not mean voice acting, I mean literally stars; they have been motion captured and digitized into the game itself, and the advertising for the game has been completely based around their starring roles...
