Pac-Man and Galaga are arcade classics synonymous with the words 'video games,' and rightly so: these two titles helped cement Namco's place in gaming history, most notably Pac-Man's iconic status and the countless versions and spin-offs that followed... (more)

"The year is 19XX. A power-hungry rogue nation has invaded its neighboring countries, placing the stability of the entire world in danger. In order to preserve the peace, a secret submarine fleet, chosen from the best and brightest of the world's navies, has been formed. They are known as the Steel Divers." (more)

After enduring the suffering that was the original NES A Boy and His Blob, I found immense relief playing this vastly improved version of the game. Everything that was bad about the original game has been cast out like demons back to their unholy place of sorrow. The sins of the past... washed away!.. (more)

Oh the joys of classic games. It's why the Wii Virtual Console exists, so gamers have the chance to once again play the greatest hits that only get better with age. The NES is well known for its abundance of hits, yet this game is not one of them. No sir, and, no madam, this game should not be your first, second, or even tenth choice of the NES library. This game has the ability to drive even the most hardened game veterans crazy with its unfair game design and control. From the moment you reach the title screen, you know you're in for a treat when you hear a pathetic Indiana Jones theme song rip-off... (more)

Do you like puzzle games? Do you like classic NES graphics and sound? Nintendo and Skip bring together these two elements in a fun puzzle game as part of the ongoing Art Style series. Pictobits doesn't necessarily bring any radical changes to the standard 'match the colored blocks' puzzle genre, but the Nintendo fan service is definitely a good reason to pick up this DSiWare classic... A car strolls along through the quaint countryside on a dirt road, cutting through the vast green field, in a scene that could be pulled straight out of the early 1900s. We quickly see the driver is a gentleman, Professor Layton, whose presence is highlighted by his notable silk top hat. In the passenger side is a young boy, Luke, dressed as proper as any young British student should be. Together they are embarking on a mysterious journey to uncover the secrets of St. Mystere, a curious village indeed... (more)

"Hadoken!" That famous battle cry from Street Fighter 'representative' Ryu (Capcom prominently places him at the center of much Street Fighter media) has resonated with gamers since the early days of the Street Fighter II arcade game. Since the original Street Fighter II's arcade release in 1991, numerous sequels and spin-offs have helped cement the Street Fighter series into one of the most popular fighting game franchises of all time. It’s unusual, but the handheld market has not traditionally been the platform for major fighting games. In a way, SSF IV 3D is Capcom’s way of saying "This is how you do a handheld fighting game!" Thus, the 3DS launch lineup starts off with bang that sets a new standard for 3DS games to follow, not just for fighters but 3DS games in general... (more)

I’m a big fan of game companies stepping outside the norm every once in a while and trying something different, even within their own established genres. The World Ends With You, which I will refer to as TWEWY from now on, is a unique action RPG game that stands out from other Square Enix games for many reasons. The game takes place in a realistic setting, in the modern-day Shibuya shopping district of Tokyo. You’re a 15 year old boy named Neku who one day wakes up in the middle of the bustling streets without a memory of how he got there. He finds himself thrust, unwillingly, into ‘The Game’ of survival, where he must complete a series of missions over the course of a week to prevent being ‘erased,’ or ceasing to exist... (more)
