Ridge Racer 3D is a good launch game. With a little more polish, it could've been a great launch game, but there's always the next system, I guess... (more)

Ladies and gentlemen, Blob is back! For... the first time. On DS, anyway. THQ's spunky new action/platforming hero made his debut as a Wii exclusive back in 2008, and has remained as an understated, under rated hero for gamers that enjoy games with lots of personality, light-hearted fun and bright, primary colors. Now, finally, three years later Blob has returned to ALL consoles, as well as with an exclusive handheld adventure on the DS... (more)

"Hadoken!" That famous battle cry from Street Fighter 'representative' Ryu (Capcom prominently places him at the center of much Street Fighter media) has resonated with gamers since the early days of the Street Fighter II arcade game. Since the original Street Fighter II's arcade release in 1991, numerous sequels and spin-offs have helped cement the Street Fighter series into one of the most popular fighting game franchises of all time. It’s unusual, but the handheld market has not traditionally been the platform for major fighting games. In a way, SSF IV 3D is Capcom’s way of saying "This is how you do a handheld fighting game!" Thus, the 3DS launch lineup starts off with bang that sets a new standard for 3DS games to follow, not just for fighters but 3DS games in general... (more)

Let me know if you've played this one: in this platformer, the chubby hero has to rescue his girlfriend by avoiding obstacles, killing enemies with his trusty tomahawks, and occasionally hopping on a skateboard (while wearing protective head-wear, of course). His vitality is constantly ticking away, and must be refilled by grabbing fruits and vegetables in the levels before they disappear... (more)

Way back in the year 2006, Nintendo launched the Wii with a little piece of software called Wii Sports, which ended up taking the world by storm. Arguably, there were better games available at launch (Twilight Princess? Trauma Center?), but Wii Sports was the go to game to play with family and friends, and helped showcase to the world what that whole crazy Wii thing was all about. In North America and Europe, Wii Sports came packed in with the console, and I think we can all agree that this tactic was very beneficial, if not integral, to the success of the Wii in the West. Naturally I expected Nintendo to do something similar with the 3DS, and when they announced that they would be preloading software onto every 3DS unit it made me smile inside. Yet I was a bit perturbed when, leading up to the launch, I didn't see that one title that looked to recreate the role of Wii Sports. As it turns out, it may have been right in front of my... (more)

Having never owned an N64, having never owned a Dreamcast, having never owned a PC that could run it and having never seen the PS2 version hanging out on store shelves, I simply never had the chance to play Rayman 2 before this version came out. I have played Rayman 3, which I liked well enough despite not being too fond of the emphasis on combat and combos. I have played the first game, which I loathe with a passion (pretty, but I'm not a fan of the stage design!). But Rayman 2 is the Holy Grail of the series for me: I've heard so much about it, and never had a chance to experience it myself until now. Was it worth the wait?.. (more)

After having read all the reviews, when I finally purchased okamiden I expected a mere shrunken version of Okami. I was proven wrong. 24 hours into the game and I'm blown away... (more)

Square Enix has a history of creating fantastic RPGs. As time has passed, they too have evolved into creating games with outstanding graphics, numerous cutscenes and lengthy gameplay. So what happens when they want to throw it back to the old days? Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light, that's what. Does it live up to the Final Fantasy name, or is it a let-down?.. (more)
