As the Wii comes to a close, us gamers start to think that future great titles for this system is all but dried up. Fear not, for The Last Story offers one of the best gaming experiences on the Wii system and should not be missed... (more)

Tradition. It's all about tradition. The Dragon Quest series exemplifies video game tradition above all else, and the fifth game in the series carries this concept forward in all major aspects of game design (even if it's a DS remake coming out 17 years after the original Super Famicom release). The Dragon Quest series (and its spin-offs, no less!) have become an important part of the extensive library of quality DS RPGs. DQ V originally released in Japan for the Super Famicom (1992) (then later remade for the PS2, Japan only, in 2004); Square Enix released this DS remake in 2009 outside Japan... (more)

I like a lot of different games for a lot of different reasons. Some games are a joy to play. Some games use fantastic characters to tell a compelling story. Some games look and sound beautiful. Whatever the reason, the games I enjoy the most are those that provide a great overall experience. Those games whose parts come together and just fit, like a disappearing row of Tetris blocks. Which is why when I play a game like New Super Mario Bros. 2, a title that plays like a dream but everything else is so bland and non-defiant, I lose interest quick. Even if I end up completing the game and enjoying it, it doesn’t stick with me for long. I don’t have a grin on my face when I watch the closing credits, in fact I will probably skip them... (more)

I'm not an expert on the Caped Crusader or his fan base, but I gather the television series Batman: The Brave and the Bold was controversial in certain sections of Nerdstanbul when it first aired. (Or was that Geekstantinople? It's some place where shares in deodorant are down, anyway.) This amuses me for a number of reasons. Mostly I just find it remarkable that we've gotten to a point where a relatively happy-go-lucky Batman who fights crime because it's the right thing to do - the Batman most of us first encountered when we were children - is more controversial than a psychotic one who beats up Robin and calls himself The Goddamn Batman. Oh, how the Dark Age of Comics did change the world. To put it simply, if you can only accept the story of a rich guy who dresses up like a bat to fight crime if it is taken as gravely seriously as it is in the Nolan trilogy, you gotta get some perspective, man... I am back from the depths of the underworld to review a game you probably haven't played. Us hardcore Nintendo fans are familiar with a list entitled "Best Wii Games You Probably Haven't Played". There's plenty of titles on that list, and one of them is de Blob 2. The first de Blob came out in 2008, during the Wii's first major drought, and most hardcore Wii owners played it. It was a fun little game with an awesome take on music, but it was lacking in variety and true engaging content. In 2011 this little game got a multi-console sequel which even less people played. Tons of Wii fans felt like developer Blue Tongue wanted a quick buck with this sequel, since it received little pre-release hype and it was released on the other systems as well. Add the fact that not many 360/PS3 owners care about a kiddy colorful game with little press, and no one played this game. It's a shame, too - this is one of the top sleeper hits of the decade... Kirby has always been one of Nintendo's quirkier characters. After all, he inhales enemies and copies their abilities. He's also been the star of some of Nintendo's experimental titles, including Kirby: Canvas Curse, Kirby Mass Attack, and Kirby's Dream Course. Kirby's Block Ball is another example of Nintendo's creativity, putting the pink puffball in a breakout-style game... (more)

The NES had its fair share of licensed games for popular cartoons and movies. The most popular of these were generally made by Capcom and their Disney line-up which many of us know and love but Konami was in on it as well, particularly with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and a bevy of other licensed games though they were more in favor of arcade style beat-um ups. They got some rather obscure titles (anyone remember Cowboys of Moo Mesa?) and Bucky O'Hare was certainly obscure. So obscure it came out after the show's run had already ended at 13 episodes. So for those not in the know, what was Bucky O'Hare? I'll let the epic opening tell you what Bucky O'Hare was: (more)

"To lose a bullet is to lose a life, and to lose a life is to lose a bullet." This is apparently the slogan used by the developer, EnjoyUp Games, to describe this unusual shoot-em-up game. 99Bullets resembles a standard vertical space shooter but throws in some very interesting features that separates it from its many clones...
