Amiibo Tap! It's the new sensation that is apparently NOT sweeping the nation! But I think it's pretty cool. Tapping my Mario to the old Wablet unlocked key scenes in the original Metroid (perhaps my favorite game of all time). It was a blast from the past, man. And when they say "Greatest Bits", they aren't kidding. All of the boss fights were included (and fully beatable within the three-minute time limit), along with the beginning of the game and the first Metroid encounter. The only important scene missing was the escape sequence. Maybe they didn't want to spoil it? Even though they spoiled everything else?.. (more)

Yooka-Laylee is the new, upcoming, platform collect-a-thon style game from Playtonic Games. This developer is made up mostly of some of the greatest people to ever work for Rare back in it's hay-day. The game clearly takes inspiration from Banjo-Kazooie from the colorful visuals, the dual-buddy gameplay, and the music from Grant Kirkhope. The great David Wise also joins! Join this Chameleon and Bat duo on an epic adventure! Coming to pretty much all popular platforms next year. Projected release date is October 2016... (more)

I picked this game up used for $8.00 last Sunday at a Farmer's Market nearby my home. I'm about to dive in and see if it holds the same experience it did on the Nintendo 64. I see that some key differences are in the loss of Banjo and Conker, which is a bummer, but I always loved playing as the clock guy anyway... Tick Tock? What was his name?.. (more)

DK64. One of the more divisive games in Nintendo's(/Rare's) catalog. But was it always so? Or has it just become the cool thing to hate? How will historians ultimately look back on Lanky, Funky, and the rest?.. (more)

Check out this marriage of the two classic dungeon-crawling series, Atlus' Etrian Odyssey and Spike Chunsoft's Mystery Dungeon. With the gorgeous artwork and class and leveling system of the Etrian Odyssey series combined with the random generating dungeons and loot-grind of the Mystery Dungeon series, do you have what it takes to challenge this rogue-like adventure?..
