I'm finally playing through Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze on the Wii U a good 10 months or so after it released. It's a great game, maybe even better than Returns, and if you are into that kind of thing you should definitely play it. One of the coolest things about Tropical Freeze is that it marks the return of legendary composer David Wise to the Donkey Kong Country series. David Wise composed the original soundtracks (OSTs) for the first two games in the SNES trilogy and parts of the third (although not Donkey Kong Country Returns on the Wii, which was handled by Metroid Prime composer Kenji Yamamoto, among others.) So I felt like it was time to give David Wise some much deserved love. And maybe some love for Yamamoto and his team as well. But mostly for David Wise, because that dude's Donkey Kong Country tracks are the best... (more)

You knew this was coming. I love the Wii, I love Top 10s. I can't get enough of either of them - so when a Wii-centered Top 10 has so many games I can put in it, it's only natural that it's gonna be made eventually. With the Wii U almost near us it's the perfect time to snag some of these completely ignored gems and play them on there in HD. They're also painfully cheap at this point... (more)

The Zelda franchise is beloved by many. One of the aspects of the franchise that really resonates with me are the expressions given by our protagonist. Link is a character of many talents and is full of courage, wonder, innocence, frustration, laughter...the list goes on and on... (more)

I could start this off by talking about how I'm the biggest Nintendo fan ever, but anyone can say that, and half of the people who write these kind of criticisms of Nintendo have moved firmly into the Sony or Microsoft camps over the years, whether they admit it to the world (and themselves) or not. So instead I'll just post some evidence that, while not particularly proving one thing or another, will at least give you an idea of the type of fan of Nintendo that I am: (more)

Mario Golf is a series that has been around perhaps longer than anyone realizes. In America anyway, the first game released June 30th, 1999 for the N64. Just two months shy of it's 15-year anniversary, Camelot Software is bringing another entry back into the limelight on 3DS. In fact, it's been nearly ten years since the last Mario Golf game (crazy to think about). The original game's tag-line was "Tee Up With Mario and His Friends". Here you'll get to do just that, and this time in glorious 3D graphics... (more)

Every now and then I wonder what happened to Jerry, the spindly little boy who was ruthlessly bullied by just about every kid in my 5th grade class. He didn’t smell great. Glasses thick as a Kool-Aid pitcher. Hair gel flaking off, causing everyone to pick on him for his “dandruff”... (more)

And we’re back, this time with my top 10 NES original soundtracks! Yeah yeah I know, I’m doing things out of order here, sue me. Awhile back I posted my Top 10 SNES Original Soundtracks (OSTs), because the SNES is the best thing ever and its music was doubly so, but I felt like the good ol’ classic 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment System deserved its day to shine as well. So here we are... (more)

Nintendo announced today, via their official Pokemon youtube channel as well as their website, a brand new Pokemon to be featured in the upcoming Pokemon X and Y games. The Pokemon has a strong resemblance to the classic Mewtwo, but with a head that is much more elongated. Perhaps this is a brand new Pokemon with a whole separate line, or perhaps it is an evolution of Mewtwo. The latter would be rather fascinating to take such a prominent Pokemon and give it an evolution... (more)
