Role-Playing Games (RPGs) featuring one or both of the Mario Bros. date back to 1996 with Squaresoft’s Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story is their seventh RPG outing. All of Mario's RPGs are worth playing, but I consider the pinnacle of the series to be Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga for the Game Boy Advance. In an announcement sure to shock the world ten times over, Nintendo of America's President and Chief Operating Officer Reggie Fils-Aime has announced that every single previously released Nintendo published title that has never made it to the North American territories will now, finally, be making their way over. When asked by this reporter to clarify, he responded with "Yes damnit, I mean it, every single one! Even little heard of Virtua Boy titles like Space Squash and Insmouse no Yakata. They're all coming. And soon." He proceeded to go on with a list of upcoming releases, which included much clamored for titles like Soma Bringer, Fatal Frame IV, Captain Rainbow, Disaster Day of Crisis, and the upcoming Xenoblade, among many, many others... So I downloaded Grill Off and played it for a solid, um, 15 minutes at most, just long enough to beat the default high score on my second try. The game's kind of fun, and while during the tutorial I was thinking it would be like patting my head and rubbing my belly at the same time, it's super simple to control... (more) |

I did this once last July, before the massive influx of users, so I thought it would be fun to do it again and see how much has changed. The main thing that has changed, of course, is that we have a lot more users now and therefore a lot more voting on games. So for the sake of this write-up, I am only going to choose games with at least 10 votes. I have also decided that in the case of a tie, the game with more ratings wins out. Makes sense to me... "The Official Nintendo Magazine UK is hanging out at tonight's BAFTA Video Game awards, and has punched into its Twitter account that not only did it get to talk to one Shigeru Miyamoto, but that he's confirmed Pikmin 3 is in development and "well under way." Over a year ago, the game was rumored to be released a week-and-a-half from now, but we'll presume it's not quite that far along in development." (more)

Though the tech may be interesting, and one day, someone will make a playable ghost-hunting game (with a PK Meter!), I'm not convinced that a great game will ever be born from it... (more) |
