I recently reviewed the 3DS System and gave it a score of 9.0. I am very happy with Nintendo’s new handheld and I think that they have done a magnificent job on its first iteration. However, there are still a few areas where the 3DS could be better. Some of these areas are hardware related and will need to be addressed in hardware revisions or successors. Others are actually software related and could be fixed with firmware updates. I would also like to discuss the future potential of the system and the many great things Nintendo and other developers can do with the system right now... (more)

The Turrican series originated on the Commodore 64 and its existence was taken as proof that at a time when action games were usually made a) by the Japanese and b) for consoles only, the West could create a balls-out PC action game that can hang with the best of the genre... (more)

NOTE: This is a review of both versions of the game. More specifically, a review of the core game itself, which also details the differences between both versions, and which is better (if there is one). I added it to the NPC version because it seems more relevant... (more)

Art Style: Boxlife is yet another DSiWare contribution from the mad puzzle geniuses at Skip. Like most of their other games on the service, it brings some fresh new ideas to an often tired genre, while sprucing them up with a healthy dose of style and charm. Basically, Boxlife (Hacolife in Japan) is a puzzle game about cutting and folding cardboard shapes into boxes. You play as a box worker in a box factory. Sounds boring, right? That's the joke! Somewhat like No More Heroes and Super Paper Mario, the game works as subversive commentary on life in general and game playing in specific. Perform menial tasks more efficiently, and your boxy character will rise to the 'next level' in the box-cutting world, thereby earning nicer clothes, a new title, and more superficial adornments for his virtual house. It's all quite clever and humorous... (more)

Earlier this year it was revealed that Monster World 4 (part of the Wonder Boy series..? That series has a messy history ) was rated by the ESRB for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. There was no mention of a Wii release, however. Thanks to a recent blog post on Sega's site however, they have announced plans to release some classic Sega games from the Master System and Genesis for the Wii's Virtual Console and on Playstation Network. Monster World IV is included among these games, and is singled out for its previously being Japan-only... (more)

Everyone and their mother knows that Animal Crossing: City Folk was a big disappointment. The only real upgrade over Wild World was that each player could have their own house again. This was important enough in my household to make it the Animal Crossing of choice, and it's still played very consistently, but the game also came with several steps backwards, like a very annoying Wii interface and the grass destroying mechanic...
