I just LAUNCHED THE ROCKET to the tune of 56,200, with 148 Lines on Lv14. What is the best you remember doing in this addictive / nerve-racking game?

I tried. Put about 5 hours into Diamond. I could see the general appeal. It just felt pitched younger than i could relate to at this point.

I get it if you guys grew up with the series, how that translates to your adulthood - like how I can play Mario or Sonic. But trying to get into it at 34? I dunno. It feels like the ship has sailed.

@Mr_Mustache You get more points if you clear more lines at one time, so you should be shooting for a Tetris and nothing else. Also, you get more points at higher levels; if you start the game at lvl 9 instead of lvl 1, you can get a much higher score.

Because I'm cool like that. Also what @Mop it up said.

Ah, starting at a higher level..

@chrisbg99

And I think I only got one Tetris the entire run. Ah well. I was trying to keep it clean. I lost the other night at 99 lines, haha. "But what happens at 100?!"

I think it's just your personal tastes. I mean, I certainly didn't "grow up" with Pokémon - I didn't get into that series until my 2nd year of college. The games are just fun to play with your friends....

.....wait. Wait. Wait just a darn minute! Duh, this is so obvious! I can't believe I never realized this before! I know why you haven't gotten into the franchise - you never played the games with your friends! Pfft, no wonder you don't "get it!" Pokémon is a social game, and is only mildly entertaining as a single-player experience. (at least IMO, in comparison to the multiplayer stuff)

Yeah, no...this series is about talking to people - real people. Engaging them in battling and trading monsters, building the right team that can stand up to any challenge, catching the rare monsters to show off to others...THAT is where the appeal is. You need to experience this with friends, have rival battles, stuff like that. It's really invigorating!

Also I gotta note - I had thought I had seen the last of the "I'm told old for [insert_game_here]" statements from gamers. Especially here on Negative World, which is full of Nintendo fans. Yet, here we are.

Feels weird.

I've never played any of the pokemon games, just like I've never played Animal Xing. Like, I am wanting to try the 3ds AC, but I am afraid I may not enjoy it, esp after reading what you mentioned about some games being better mutiplayer. I don't know any othet 48 year olds that play pokemon or animal crossing. (sad_face).

Anyways, on topic...I used to play the hell out of tetris on the nes. Though, I have no idea what level I was on or what my score might have been.

@gamewizard65

That's the beauty of gaming in today's age. We now have the internet. We can play together online, with all the other fine gamers here at Negative World! Cool, huh?
