"In January 2013, Cobie Smulders, who played agent Maria Hill in The Avengers, said that her character may make an appearance in the show and that her commitment to How I Met Your Mother would not prevent her from participating"
No recasting, and she can be there from Season 2. Oh yes.
@Pokefreak911 - Like I said, it just bored me. I think I saw the first two episodes and just had no interest in continuing with it. I didn't find the story or any of the characters to be particularly likable or interesting. (The one male Doll who had escaped seemed potentially interesting, but he was the only exception, and you could tell that was supposed to be a long-burn plotline that the show wasn't going to get to right away.)
@ploot - I've heard that it gets a lot better once it gets to the change-up, and I've thought about giving it another try to see if I can get to the change-up, but I just haven't made that commitment yet.
@Oldmanwinter Buffy was pretty uneven, I think, since a lot of the staff got diverted to Angel. I'd say the first 3 seasons of Buffy were the strongest.
I actually prefer Angel by quite a large margin. It's more 'adult', less shticky, and more consistent, and the second and third seasons are pure gold. And Firefly is probably even better. So sad that it was cancelled.
Another vote for Angel. Without Buffy in the picture, the character of Angel didn't have to be so mopey all the time, and the interplay between him and Cordelia was awesome.
Buffy was good back in the day, but I think you had to be there.
Cobie Smulders reprises her role as Maria Hill in the pilot after her appearance in The Avengers. Joss Whedon stated: "I wanted very much to have Cobie in the pilot because as much as anyone else, she IS S.H.I.E.L.D. She's cool and commanding, and has the dry humor that plays so well with Clark's."
Confirmation! I hope that opens the door for her to make a more regular appearance once HIMYM is finished up.
I haven't watched any of these yet to see how much new material is in them, but apparently all four of the trailers in these three links are "new" to some extent:
