Sometimes Foresight is 20/20 [roundtable]

So we  are all familiar with the phrase 'Hindsight is 20/20' right? For those that may not be it means that looking back things are clearly understood. This thread/round table is about cases when you believed something unpopular but now is a common opinion or even a fact.

For example, during the whole Rock Band/Guitar Hero craze I held fast in my belief that it was a fad that would completely die out before too long.

So the first question is: What are some niche opinions you have held that you feel like history has proven you right on?

The next question is: What are some niche/unpopular opinions you have now that you feel will be eventually accepted as truths?

I'm a little surprised to see anyone contending that Guitar Hero/Rock Band games were not a fad. Those brands went from being some of the top selling games of their active years to basically dead with no future planned titles. These games started to fade in 2009 and Activision pumped out something like 5 different variants within a year before ending the brand. It may be that exception is taken to the usage of the word fad as it implies the games were not of quality. I don't believe that to be the case. From what I had played the games were good for what they were but ultimately the gameplay was never going to be that engaging for a huge period of time.

Wikipedia defines the term like so: A fad is any form of behavior that develops among a large population and is collectively followed with enthusiasm for some period, generally as a result of the behavior's being perceived as novel in some way.

That is exactly what these games were.
