BIT.TRIP Presents... Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien Review (Nintendo Wii U eShop) (9.5)  by
As this game is set to release next week, I figured we might as well start discussion now. Who else is excited? Will it be better than the first game? WHO KNOWS?!

Also, in a strange show of complete honesty, Gaijin just posted about the build differences. It kind of sounds like the Wii U version might be the best version? Unless you have a good controller for your PC? The PS3 version is missing some stuff and the Xbox 360 version has the worst load times, apparently.

I read Alex's fix. I may try the lint-picking solution...

Every time I exited the game, I've done it with the close software button; Rummer2 has never locked my system. YMMV of course.

That's how I've done it the last two times, and both times it's gone into the loop. So...maybe I'm going too fast? Dunno, hopefully the upcoming patch fixes it.

@Kal-El814 I guess not. But I also consider their current leaderboards "broken" because of the way they did them in some manner, so I wouldn't complain and I'd hope few would complain if they fixed them.

And it's not like anyone would really LOSE positioning, would they? Someone at the top of a leaderboard who played that stage on "normal" would still be at the top of the "normal" leaderboard for that stage. So they wouldn't have much room to complain. And tons of people would end up higher!

But you're right, it's highly unlike that they change the leaderboards at this point.

@Zero

Broken seems way too harsh. I absolutely understand the desire to segregate the scores, but as they stand, they're the highest score anyone has gotten on any flavor of that level. Broken leaderboards are filled with glitchers, or something like Super Meat Boy where an error caused them to report a ton of zero second times.

Flawed... possibly. Broken? No way.

That doesn't sound good. Well not to have it be released soon I mean.

@VofEscaflowne

I wonder if they will patch, if it's even possible, the missing gold from Devil's Marbles? I must have played through that stage a dozen times thinking I missed a piece, until I web searched the level and found the issue to be well known. Unless I, and others, are just missing something. It's just very weird for this hiccup of sorts to have made it into the final game, of what is otherwise an incredibly precise and polished package.

See, just before the key, this guy has a gold piece:

(22 seconds in)

and this guy (or gal) doesn't:

(15 seconds in)

I tweeted them about it and it's apparently not missing. You just have to take the easy path to get it them all.

EDIT: Oh I see... this is 2 different versions? Hmm, strange. I wonder if they just told me that as a temporary fix for now.

@VofEscaflowne

I have read that taking the easy path is the only way, but that doesn't fall in line with how it works in every other level with a key, lock, and treasure - as insofar as I am aware, you can perfect complete the levels taking the harder path. Having this level be the only one that bucks that trend just doesn't add up.

I will say that I think the person in the first video with the gold piece does not live in the US, while the person with the missing piece, does. I don't know if that matters, but it's the only possible difference I can see as maybe sort of possibly being a reason.

I'm not perturbed over the issue, as I'll never garner super high scores to make needing all the points attainable, it's just odd, that's all.

I just Perfect+'d every level in The Emerald Brine, and I've got to say that I'm now a fan of the dance mechanic. If it weren't in there, you'd have a whole lot of people with the exact same score tied for first place.

By the way VofE, I beat your score on the second level boss by 2,000. I've got to say, I'm enjoying the micro leaderboards.

@ludist210

Probably missed a dance at the beginning but went back and tied it
03/12/13, 15:39
@VofEscaflowne

You jerk! I was fifth in the world! FIFTH! Now...we're tied for fifth.

I'm nine Perfect+s behind you. Good for second on Negative World. Not bad, eh?

I'm not digging Mounting Sadds area too much. The music isn't great and everything is so red, I often can't make out obstacles.
03/12/13, 16:49
@ludist210

I haven't been going for Perfect+s cause I played the entire game on the hardest setting and that would probably overwrite a lot of scores if I went back and did a bunch on lower difficulties. I'll wait for the patch before I tackle it.
03/12/13, 16:55
@VofEscaflowne

Ah okay. I've just been doing them in order (Quite Easy, Just Right, Rather Hard) as I've been going along. Once I figure out the path on Quite Easy, doing the other two difficulties doesn't usually take too long.
03/12/13, 17:00
Still on World 1, as I insist on 100%ing everything before I advance.

The cannon chaps my ass, man. One, because I seem to get worse at it the more I do it, and two, because it being the endpiece of levels in a rhythm based game is a really odd design choice.

@VofEscaflowne

I hope it's soon...today would be ideal since nothing new is launching on the Wii U eShop.

Speaking of, I'm consistently seeing you, me, and jwill in the top three of every level I play. You guys give me something to shoot for.

I'm in "The Mounting Sadds" with the first 62 levels Perfect+'d on all three difficulties and 16 Retro Stages completed. Winning Congratulation!!

@ludist210

I should be playing this a bit more now that I can 100% and not worry about overwriting all of my scores.
03/28/13, 17:45
@VofEscaflowne

Good to know I have a rival to tango with. I think jwill is completely done with the game.

Just FYI: every one of my high scores has been set on the hardest difficulty. More obstacles nets more points that dancing alone.
